Results of Ghost Hunt
Okay, I know we're all healthy skeptics here, myself included but here it goes. I've always been interested in EVPs, although I don't believe in ghosts. An EVP could easily be faked however by someone just whispering into the recorder or during post processing so I never bought into them 100%. I had the opportunity this last weekend to participate in a 4 hour long overnight "ghost hunt" in the Old Jail of St. Augustine FL. This is said to be one of the most haunted buildings in the US. Needless to say, I got no "activity" all night and was calling massive bullshit but I did have a digital recorder going the entire time. When I got back to the hotel room I began to listen through my audio and to my surprise I had 2 very clear disembodied voices recorded. You can make out exactly what is being said and I know the context, since I was there. I have uploaded them to Sound Cloud, both the original clips and the Enhanced/Isolated clips. Like I said before, I don't believe in ghosts but I can't explain these voices. They were not heard at all prior. If you have any questions or comments I'd love to hear them.

Click the titles of the clips to be taken to a page with the descriptions. I uploaded the enhanced versions later, so they'll appear on top. I recommend listening to the originals first.

(On a side not I haven't been around much because I don't work over the summer and I'm spending my time away from the computer mostly. I'll be back in a month or so more regularly.)

YOU WERE SO CLOSE TO ME.

Edit: I really think you might've been hearing voices, like when we see faces in clouds. How did you select each clip, ect?

They were recorded with a Sony digital recorder, nothing special. I'm not just hearing voices, you can distinctively hear, "Run away" in that one and "Arrested for --- hehe" in the other. No one was talking that close to me at the time. In the Arrested one, my girlfriend speaks at the end and she was the only person really near me and she's way quieter then the voice. For the Run away one, we were exiting a cell and heading toward the hall and that voice was picked up as we left the cell.

I've listened to them and I've been in that jail a few times. I'm not convinced. I'll give them another listen tomorrow when I'm a bit more alert, just to be sure. However, the Old Jail isn't even the most "haunted" building in St. Augustine. Did you happen to go by the Spanish Military Hospital? Amongst locals, it's considered the "hotspot" for activity.

I did go there but that thing isn't even the original building. The "paranormal investigators" I went with said that the Old Jail was one of the most haunted and that the Light house was number 2. So I'm just going off of what they told me, assuming they have any idea what they're talking about. When you say you've been to the jail I'm assuming you mean on a little 15 minute tour? I'm talking about full access to all rooms for 4 hours with "paranormal" equipment.

You can't tell me you don't hear the voices. I wasn't really even listening to them and I heard them during playback. I appreciate your input though. Smile

Well, I do have a hearing problem. .___.;

I've got a friend or two that work there and several more that work the walking tours. Again, I'll give it another listen in the morning. If you wanted more impartial results, I'd remove what you thought you heard from the titles.

How do you know that the owner of the building didn't hide little speakers in the place that softly playback sound clips of scary voices?

Honestly, I think that's a little over-budget for that place, lol.

Of course, that's what they'd like you to think. Tongue
