What would you guess is the proportion of, say, U.S. or UK atheists feel that way--and by "that way", I mean "that Christians should be violently suppressed / re-educated under threat of violence"?

I don't think anyone thinks like that, the picture was a humorous reference to a 1970's British Comedy sketch ffs

Yeah, I kinda get the feeling that people here aren't laughing at that because they think it's ridiculous.

Clive, stop that right now! Yet again, you're trying to assign a value to the term 'atheist', presumably so you can play the 'persecution' card; "Look at those nasty atheists! They want to nail us innocent little christians up!!"

Some people might want to nail DM to a wall but that's got nothing to do with their atheism and more to do with him being a potentially dangerous mentalist dickhead.

Clive: My inclusion of the demotivational poster (another Stimbo original, btw) was in direct response to Min's comment immediately preceding it. I suggest you pose your question to him, since he expressed the sentiment. Failing that, try Michael Palin or whoever came up with the quoted line in question. As far as I'm concerned, any perceptions of oppressed martyrdom are entirely in the imagination of the beholder.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

In addition, all of this bluster is kind of silly. Everyone knows you throw Christians to the lions.

Actually, Clive, just out of interest, whatever gave you the impression that my illustration was about xtians at all? Min's comment was about the Mabus/Markuze troll, whereas the context of Michael Palin's quoted line was Ben (the depicted prisoner) extolling crucifixion as the "best thing the Romans ever did for us!" and that "If we didn't have crucifixion this country would be in a right bloody mess I tell you!"

In short, the only one who connected xtians and/or violent persecution with this issue was you. I wonder why?
