What's your background with Islam? Do you live in a Muslim country? Are your family Muslims etc.? No I don't live in a Muslim country. My family are muslims.
Well my views are more liberal. E.g. I don't agree with the Sharia Law at all. I believe in the separation of the religion and state. I'm a Libertarian Muslim. That means I support gay rights and all that.
Having said that, I do think Islam is the true religion.

Aaaw, are you dissing all our other theists already?
Jk, welcome to AF! ^_^
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I'm curious as to how you define this.... Well I don't side with Sharia Law and Islamic teachings but I do believe it's the true religion.
Okay..... there's hope for you. I'll concede that it has as much "truth" as any other religion.....although I doubt you'll find much comfort there.

What teachings? The Qur'an or Hadith? (or both) Or did you just pick the bits you like?
Do you proclaim the Shahada?
Do you accept the five pillars of Islam?
How did you conclude Islam is the true religion?
I'm just curious. I'm trying to understand if you are a sincere, thinking believer,or a credulous crackpot, as suggested by your post on the pre Columbian Americas.

I'm just curious. I'm trying to understand if you are a sincere, thinking believer,or a credulous crackpot, as suggested by your post on the pre Columbian Americas. Well I agree with the rights of homosexuauls (something that the Quran doesn't) and I don't agree with the Surah 4:34 (verse that gives men rights to 'lightly tap' Women). To be fair to the latter, there some arguments to suggest that it's a mistranslation but this isn't certain. I also don't agree with the hadith that former Muslims should be killed. I'm not in favour of the Shariah Law because how can it be from God when it's mostly concluded and made up from scholars?
Well for me, Islam is the most rational religion. It isn't confusing (like Hindusim, Christianity) and it's simple to understnad. Also in the past, Muslims haven't had problems with Evolution and other Scientific teachings like churches have had. I'm still searching the truth but I'm impressed with Islam the most.

I have a very important thread in mind (something that hasn't been discussed before!) but firstly I want to meet the atheists here.
