Fundamentalist Trekkies....

RE: Fundamentalist Trekkies....
Star Wars IV and V were good because it successfully pandered to the infantile part of our brain without making us feel too infantile up front.

Star Wars VI declined precipitously because it forget the pompous does not appeal to the infantile.

Star Wars I - III didn't pander to the infantile parts of our brain, it just made us feel infantile.

Star wars may be the best Sci-Fi Franchise ever, but even star trek served up much better science fiction.

I liked the Abram's film and am looking forward to the next one. I'm one of the few that really enjoyed what was done with the characters, particularly Scotty and Uhura. I don't get the canonical bullshit (same applies to Whovians).

I don't consider "Star Wars" to even be proper Sci-Fi. It's space opera.

Don't get me wrong, I loved all three(*) of the Star Wars films for what they were, which was not science fiction.

(*) Six? What do you mean six? There were only three. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh hey there, little bit embarrassing but this is a topic rather close to my heart and I feel it really is something that requires intelligent discussion.
Pretty sure this has been covered before so sorry in advance but I was wondering if I could ever so politely ask you to perhaps... well...

TAKE OFF THE FUCKING HAT PICARD. TAKE IT OFF AND BE PROUD OF YOUR PERFECTLY SPHERICAL HEAD RIGHT THIS INSTANT OR I WILL HUNT YOU FOREVER. TAKE IT OFF NOW.

... well that came out more demented and slightly rapier than I was expecting... why is there a dead hooker in my room?

As Star Wars would claim credit for Yoda and Darth Vader, so it must not disclaim responsibility for Jar Jar Binks or Anakin Skywalker.

Oh, I think we all know. Don't bother with the old "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" canard, either. All we need to know is was it before, during, and/or after you cacked her.

I honestly(*) have never heard of the latter two characters. I really have no idea what you are referring to.

(*) This is not strictly true. It took the judicious application of a rubber mallet, vodka, and LSD to wipe any such memory from my brain.

What was wrong with Anakin Skywalker? He was just a whiny bitch who got angstier as his trilogy progressed.

Which makes him the perfect analog for his son from the original trilogy, who was all these things himself... yet nobody really seems to mind?

Darth vadar made it possible to overlook the existence of Luke in the first 2 of the original trilogy. But the new trilogy there is nothing to redeem it from anakin skywalker.

One of the new movies had Yoda lightsaber a bitch, though. That was pretty neat. I can't remember which one.
