I like the PPSH but I have stronger feelings towards the MP40.

I like the STG-44/MP-44 more than the PPSH too but less than the MP40.

The STG was too cumbersome and the MP40 had a woeful mag capacity and a tendency to seize up in the cold.

Saying that I have a soft spot for the sten which was a cheaply produced piece of crap which still put in roughly the same performance as the MP40.

Germany even started making their own copies because of cost and the grease gun was an improved US copy.

I've got a picture of dad with a grease gun at the air base in Chu Lai taken sometime in 65 or 66.
