Nope, I actually was snickering a bit because it’s always funny how you atheists don’t care about the facts (like what Greek title Luke actually uses) but rather what you want the facts to be. There’s no contradiction there, so sorry, try again. Big Grin

I find it funny how believers accept folks like Luke whose honesty, character and integrity are unknown. Even funnier is 45 of the gospels are of unknown authorship and therefore we have no lead on their honesty and such either.

Here are your own words again...

Statler Waldorf Wrote:Luke: Mary was pregnant with Jesus when the first census was issued while Quirinius was a procurator (hegemon) in HSyria (8-7 BC).
Mark: Jesus was born while Herod the Great was King (sometime before Herod’s death in 4 BC.)

No matter how much importance you try to stress on the definition words, Mary could not have been pregnant with Jesus in 8-7 BC and then Jesus was born in 4 BC. Or are you now going to argue that Mary was pregnant for 3 years?

Well, it is a magic child after all.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Where did I say Jesus was born in 4 BC? He merely had to be born before Herod’s death in 4 BC. Most scholars believe Jesus was born around 6 BC, and Mary could easily be pregnant and have to begin traveling to Bethlehem in 7 BC and give birth in 6 BC.

Ah, I see. Sorry, I missed the "before" part.

What does belief have to do with it when one cannot distinguish the gospel writers from liars?

Quirinius was not procurator. He was of the senatorial class and an ex-consul. Procurators during the reign of Tiberius...and probably Augustus...were drawn from the Equestrian order. Quirinius would have been the Imperial Legate a title befitting his status.

Fortunately we can tell the difference between those who want truth and you.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
