What will reform political philosophy?
May 12, 2013 at 5:05 pm
Political philosophy has essentially been static for decades. It's most basic questions have been also static. Take rights. It's essentially a given by default that all hold the same basic legal rights. If rights are denied on racial or gender-based terms, then why not on more frivolous means such as the colour of one's house or the type of steak one likes? There is no basis for denying or supporting some holding more rights than others.
Will it take literally another Enlightenment to advance political philosophy?

It requires common agreement as to which direction is an advance. Like most people you assume your direction is an advance.

An advance as in new knowledge, discussions or evidence. What new discussions are there in political philosophy that did not exist 50 years ago?
Moral philosophy has moved on in such over the past 50 years, and probably always will be dynamic. Political philosophy however has a set of unanswerable and thought-terminating questions that have no obvious response.

We are already seeing it in the US as the demographics change. Marijuana, gay rights, and immigration reform are all embraced by the younger generation.
We have to simply wait for the seoti-octogenarians to die off and take their 1950's outlook with them. This is what the republicunts do not understand. They don't need a better "messenger." They need a better "message."

The five acceptable forms of political philosophy are communism, socialism, anarchism, nationalism, and fascism......... many have been determined as "out-dated" such as monarchism......... considering how old monarchism is........ I think these 5 are atleast worthwile of a debate for ...................................well .................................. the next few millenia

What, no Technocracy? Everything just mentioned is outdated comparatively. Where's my gun?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

LOL, no, it's a government where businessmen and politicians are replaced with scientists and engineers - you know, the kind of folks that can actually pull off a complicated technical project the likes of which our government is always looking at floating. The sorts of things we're going to have to rely on more and more as there are more and more of us and fewer resources.
(I do presume that ipods would be free, though, yes, as it incorporates elements of socialism itself-and is touted as an updated and practical direction for socialism to take by it's proponents, lol)
