That's so true! Unfortunately, we've accepted gender roles for too long, and this makes it much harder to get rid of. Though I'm optimistic by the LGBT movement, it should help in this regard.

Welcome. In the spirit of the various meanings of mota, this is the first mota I thought of:

I can to you say a word "congratulation" because I know that someone who leave Islam can be killed.

Why did you leave Islam ?

Well... worry for your life, if you leave a given religion... that goes waaaay beyond simple indoctrination as a way to keep the number of faithful dolts around.

First of all, your shouldn't say "وعليكم السلام"/"Peace be upon you" to an infidel, you should only say "وعليكم"/"You too" according to islamic laws .

Second of all, I have to say that I'm a little intimidated by your knowledge about Arabic. Do you belong to the mossad or something? Just kidding! I actually admire your multilingual skills! (I did my research )

Yeah. My heart goes to those in the UK right now who are labeled as muslims but are not. On the one hand, they are afraid to be harassed by brits as a revenge for the horrible beheading that occurred two days ago. On the other hand, they can't publicly announce their apostasy, otherwise they might be killed by muslims. It's a lose/lose situation.
