I have myself experienced discrimination against me and I know of other atheists personally that have been discriminated against.
People discriminate against other people just because of appearance, you don't think people, particularly theists, wouldn't save their breath on someone that doesn't share their religion? Give me a break.
I had a hard time getting a job because of my professed atheism, so much so, that I'm currently working for a company whose other workers are also atheists.
