Any rate higher than the rate at which I sexually abuse children is alarming to me Ron - and that rate would be precisely nil. Are you hoping to lessen or absolve your church of it's culpability by reference to the inequity or misbehavior of some other group?
Would you like to know why that doesn't hold water? Here's the facts. Your clergy molests children.......and then tries to cover it up. Got it?

Less than, and I think that number is unacceptable for the church, 300 accounts of pedophilia is reported in the church. Now the government of the U.S. says there are over 400,000 pedophiles, so where are the 399,700 pedophiles at, probably in a neighborhood near you, trying to meet your children through the internet.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

If you don't think the rate at which sexual abuse is cropping up in the RCC is alarming - because other people do it to...good for you. I would like to point out that that is only a number for catholic churches. Considering all of the other dominations, I think that number would be higher.
