Since I have already done a tiny bit of drunk posting (nothing too bad) I thought I should introduce myself.
I grew up in a Christian household in South Africa. Spend most of my childhood fearing hell because I was finding it hard to believe in Jesus. I should have made the association that if Jesus didn't exist, hell doesn't either - but I was just a child .
I would say that my fear of hell still has an influence in my life. Don't read to much into that though - I'm a sacredy cat who checks my back seat for the axe man before I drive and who refuses to go near open gutters because I saw It as a child. We are all a bit crazy in different ways.
I'm not sure when I became an atheist. I would put it down as about 7 years ago. Most of my family no longer believe and I've immigrated to the uk where theists are few and far between so it was an easy conversion for me. My family (who are mostly still in south africa) was not so lucky. One got divorced because she was married to a preacher and they couldn't get past their religious differences and another can't admit that they are not a Christian because they will lose their job. Living in a religious country is terrible.
Other than that I'm a software developer who enjoys gaming and drinking.
So far everyone has been really nice to me (even those with whom I disagree on the religious front) and I'm happy to be here. Thanks guys/gals.
(I apologise for loads of spelling mistakes in my posts. When I'm in front of a computer I'm either working or playing games. Forums are for phones)
