Wrong. Without your brain, you are nothing. If your brain were able to be separated from your body without killing you (your brain), then you would still be you, albeit in a different body or 'without?' a body. You are not your body, your body is simply what allows your brain its continued existence.

My brain is just another part of my body. Without by brain I'd still be something it's just that I'd be a corpse.

IF my brain could be detached.... so far that has never been shown to be possible. And if it was, my brain is still physical just like all my other body parts (as far as I know, I know of no evidence to the contrary).

If you say without my brain I am nothing, the same applies to without my heart - in both cases I'd be dead. That's as close as you can get to "nothing".

My brain isn't me it's just another part of me. I can't have consciousness without it but it's possible - just not for humans it seems - to live without a brain... single celled animals like bacteria for instance. Or - viruses. They're alive but they have no brain.

Seperating your body from your brain will kill both sub-assemblies. It is conceivable that the technology will be created someday that can keep a brain alive without the body(maybe it exists today?). The technology to keep a body alive with a dead brain exists right now.

I agree with EvF on this one, we are all the sub assemblies that comprise our bodies. There is even a second brain in our guts.

Your conscious is in your brain tho' ..it's the seat of your identity ~ hence the issues of separation. Wouldn't a brain transplant be the simplest solution? & if our conscious is simply programming is identity so precious?

The main difference is that the human brain doesn't function the same way as the spinal cord does, even in the way neural pathways are established. The brain wins, hands down.

Let's say the technology was available to remove the human brain keeping it conscience and place it in a mechanical life support and locomotion unit, something like.....

Baring trauma to the brain I would maintain "you" will remain "you" until natural decay of brain functions makes you into somebody else.

However it did lend me to think when your NS was constructing itself it thought you were your sister. Oops, shit happens. Some people label this a disorder. I don't. Your NS just constucted itself differently than mine constructed itself.
