Little superstitions

RE: Little superstitions
I don't have any superstitions regarding daily life.

I do think some people are simply luckier than others for no reason. It's a rare thing that my brother will lose a game of chance. He's just always been lucky as hell.

My sister calls me a luck-sucker because I rarely lose when gambling, but everyone around me does. The other night, I was sitting at Three Card Poker at one of the local Indian casinos. It's regular Three Card, but with a six-card side bet. If you lose in regular play, you've got a second chance to find three of a kind or better with the dealer's cards, or you could have two good hands. I got two five-card straight flushes the other night, $1000 + each. The breaker who dealt me the first one said she had never seen one before. The regular dealer who dealt me the second one had to call surveillance on me. Meanwhile, people were coming and going from the table like they were at a fast food restaurant. No one else could win anything. I was a little nervous walking out of the casino, to tell you the truth. That's a lot of cash.

I still feel randomly weary about opening an umbrella inside, even though I know it's utter nonsense.

Damn childhood indoctrination.

Having superstitions causes bad luck.

Not that I'm aware of - though I do feel I have had long periods where I run bad in poker. I suspect that's either just statistical variance or some kind of cognitive bias. I certainly don't attribute it to bad "luck".
