BILL NYE VS KEN HAM: TONIGHT AT 7 PM

And as an addition, what tests have been performed to arrive at that number, and what mainstream scientific work documents this phenomenon?

He was arguing that you have to show what stops them from changing if you're going to claim that changes can't continue to accumulate indefinitely.

You say 'genetic entropy'. If only there was a mechanism in nature to weed out deleterious mutations....

Just curious, after watching the press this debate got and how terrific Bill Nye did, especially IMO in emphasizing the value of science education on "the outside," does anyone still think it was a bad idea to begin with? Didn't Christianity look absolutely ridiculous for those 2 hours in front of hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of global viewers? And as hard as Christians might try, can they REALLY think Ham won that debate?

I think Ken Ham does more to damage Christianity than we ever could. Anyone doubting the motivation to oppose teaching evolution is religion can be pointed to this debate. The Discovery Institute types were probably as outraged by screen Ham's antics as I was. In retrospect, I think having the debate was a good idea. Maybe moderate Christians will wake up to whose side they should be on when it comes to science.

You're talking about fools who think a dead jew came back to life to pay for their sins when they weren't even fucking born yet.

They are pretty much capable of thinking anything.

I didn't watch, but it sounds like Ken Ham didn't even try to give scientifically sound arguments.

By the way, I think Bill surpassing everyone's expectations in terms of his debating skills properly made up for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJEqQWgbNV8

At first, he was using his version of "science", but he gave up midway through the "debate" and his arguments were pretty much goddiditbiblegoddiditbiblebiblebiblegoddiditgoddiditbible.

My favorite was the Pastafarian calling on the Christians for solidarity so that both of their creation stories can be taught in public school science classes. It's funny how quickly many of them will waffle and do a complete 180, because they don't actually want to 'teach the controversy', they just want to teach their particular interpretation of their religions beliefs.
