Any Vegetarians/Vegans here?

What does that even mean? Far to much to make any mistakes? The ratio is what i'm talking about here. Your response doesn't make sense.

Yes, you must be an expert on these things as a spare nurse.

Yes, i'm sure that their eating habits in a week in a hospital is representative of how they eat and have eaten all the time.

You would be surprised to find out that most of these people are in their 50 as average. Wink Shades

No not really, that's kind of what I expected. And 50 is kind of old considering people died in their 40s in the middle ages.
Besides, this is irrelevant. Do you see now what I mean about extraneous variables? Now we have two things that are 'linked' to cardiovascular disease: meat eating and age. The next step would be to isolate these variables and find out if they have any effect on cardiovascular disease.

Idiot.
A lemon is acidic but when you mix his juices with salt which is also acidic you get an alkaline solution so at the end is not what you got in the first place but what you get after a certain item come into contact with your digestive system.
A human body is alkaline by nature so when it come into contact with acidic items like meat will suffer and will create so many diseases.

What the hell does that mean? The human body is alkaline by nature? What do you actually mean by that? And no, i'm not accepting that link as evidence of anything, its one of those stupid woo, spiritual shit websites. Why can you never link a reliable, valid, scientific source? The fact that you can't, speaks volumes about the things you are saying.

You got it wrong boy.
That's Benjamin to you, fucker.

Quote:1) Science is NOT about......observable reality.
Reality is something fix and never changing so it is impossible for physical science working in a universe always moving and changing to get hold of reality.
Bullshit. Science: look at actual things, look for patterns in their properties, test your ideas, rinse and repeat. It's all based on observation of real things.

Quote:2) Your idea that entities can not be observed by anyone is bankrupt.
How can physical science get hold of something which is not physical? Thinking
Like God? It can't.

Wow. Not only fail, deliberate, self-enforced fail. Why look into actual science when you already know (without science) the truth? How DID you learn these things you "know"? Did angels reveal them to you in a dream?

No worries. It looks like we're going to a place that will take actual work and research, so take all the time you need.

This is the impression I also had. I also got the impression you would relish such an investigation as would I

Just got another phone call, life interfering again! Sometimes I really do wish I could do magic and just sort everything out so I can sit and give due consideration to a post that has peaked my interest.

It worries me that you are allowed in a health care context. Not because of your ignorance, you share that with lots of people, but because of the stuff you THINK you know.

A body is alkaline by nature. Fuck me. Are you actually serious?

Yep 'fraid so Jacob. this is the pseudo babble that the Ayuvedic medicine supports. I fail to see how Salt (pH 7.5 - 8.4?) mixed with Lemon juice (pH3?) can combine to make an alkaline solution.?

Perhaps this is the sort of thing enrico is talking about?
Quote:Human blood stays in a very narrow pH range right around ( 7.35 - 7.45 ). Below or above this range means symptoms and disease. If blood pH moves to much below 6.8 or above 7.8, cells stop functioning and the patient dies. The ideal pH for blood is 7.4

A healthy blood pH without cancer has acid + alkaline balance almost equal. Actually a healthy body is slightly alkaline measuring approximately 7.4. This ideal blood 7.4 pH measurement means it is just slightly more alkaline than acid.

The pH in the human digestive tract varies greatly (see Human Digestive Tract pH Range Chart on the left side). The pH of saliva is usually between 6.5 - 7.5. After we chew and swallow food it then enters the fundic or upper portion of the stomach which has a pH between 4.0 - 6.5. This is where "predigestion" occurs while the lower portion of the stomach is secreting hydrochloric acid (HCI) and pepsin until it reaches a pH between 1.5 - 4.0. After the food mixes with these juices it then enters the duodenum (small intestine) where the pH changes to 7.0 - 8.5. This is where 90% of the absorption of nutrients is taken in by the body while the waste products are passed out through the colon (pH 4.0 - 7.0).
If you have a health problem, most likely you are acidic. Research shows that unless the body's pH level is slightly alkaline, the body cannot heal itself. So, no matter what type of modality you choose to use to take care of your health problem, it won't be as effective until the pH level is up. If your body's pH is not balanced, you cannot effectively assimilate vitamins, minerals and food supplements. Your body pH affects everything.

Your position is that meat production and consumption is okay or necessary.

Correct so far

(February 15, 2014 at 10:56 pm)bennyboy Wrote: Intrinsic to this position are attitudes about the justification of suffering in others.

How is this "intrinsic" ??
This seems an assumption on your part

(February 15, 2014 at 10:56 pm)bennyboy Wrote: All meat-eaters must necessarily accept that in order to sustain themselves, they must cause suffering and death in others.

Why? This seems another assumption on your part sans any evidence so far for the previous assumptions

(February 15, 2014 at 10:56 pm)bennyboy Wrote: I assume, since you are a willing participant in the meat production/consumption cycle, that you accept whatever evils that process involves

Finally a bit of honesty! And just what ARE the "evils"?

You don't seem to be making any sense with the above statement, it just sounds like religious dogma regurgitated to sound good and convey guilt

(February 15, 2014 at 10:56 pm)bennyboy Wrote: Since in Australia, meat-production is also a big business, I'd also hazard a guess that you are willing to accept environmental corruption and animal suffering as part of the exchange of goods-- money for housing, electronic goods, etc. At this point, the word "necessity" starts to lose the ring of truth.

This from a person who lives in Korea which imports 95% of it's food and construction materials from other countries?

How's that apartment you are living in?

Quote:Now, for what you have implied you are in North America/ Canada? Is this correct? And your country grows wheat? What else does it grow?

As far as I understand, here in Oz we have something like two growing seasons and yes wheat is a yearly crop here, along with many other grain crops (large scale). We are also only 22-23 million in population so most of our produce gets exported.
I live in Korea, but I am Canadian. Canada is similarly situated to Australia, I believe: large countries with low populations and good farmlands, but quite a lot of non-arable land: tundra in Canada, and dry regions in Australia.

You do realise that many of our forest have had to be felled so you can have your kimchi every day?

Are they working on the principle then that the body is like a big wet bag of insides so that when you eat something it alters the pH of the whole?!
