So I'm helping a friend plan her mum's funeral (as designated Christian

. Struggling with hymns / songs. She's after upbeat, but not TOO religious.
What do you want played at your funeral. And please, always look On the bright side is virtually a given!

Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken."

Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

At my funeral I want them to play the Hugh Laurie version of "Changes" (Loud) from his album Didnt it Rain Its perfect... starts slow and then bursts into an up tempo jazz thing. And I have made it clear that I will be dead.. not resting, sleeping, past away... just dead!

My best friend and I have agreed that we'll both have "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas as our funeral song.

It's So Hard To Say Goodbye to Yesterday by Boyz II Men. Cliche as hell, but it's my funeral. Oh, and The Who's Rain O'er Me as well.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

That was fantastic. And awful. But fantastic.
