Ok I admit it
RE: Ok I admit it
But if people believe everything told to them as a kid, why do no adults believe in Santa Claus?

Santa should show up at a certain time... However, he doesn't... :hmmmm:

And you wouldn't need to actually buy presents to give to your kids, if he existed, right?

It's an easier concept to falsify.

Well you could reason that maybe when Santa comes to deliver the presents, he alters your mind to make you forgot he was there and that you were the one that bought the gifts.

So he's also changing my bank account?
I'm not sure he'd like it if everyone on the so-called developed world was to sue the guy for stealing money in exchange for toys of exactly that worth.

Don't you think you're just adding a layer of complexity where it doesn't exist?

Well let's not argue about silly stuff like that, let's get back to real stuff like God.

We've been to the North Pole and found it lacking a workshop.

As this relates to the God question:
We've discovered the naturalistic means by which things happen that used to be attributed to him. The formation of stars and planets, geologic processes, even the evolution and complexity of life.

Does this prove God doesn't exist? No, but it makes him superfluous.

So why are you an atheist if you can't prove it?

Reason? Don't you see the mental gymnastics you have to do to make this work? Do you feel silly saying stuff like this?

Real stuff. Irony. Answer Jacob/Esquilax.

One can never prove a negative. I am an a-unicornist, and I'm guessing so are you, do you feel a need to prove that there are no unicorns?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

That particular point doesn't disprove god. But I think I can make a damn good case for the Christian God. Maybe later.

You need to understand two concepts called "null hypothesis" and "burden of proof". I'll wait while you Google them.

Theist claim that God exists. The burden is on them to prove it, not on me to disprove it. So far, they haven't.

Secondly, I'd ask you to look up what is called the "Dawkins Scale" of religiosity. Most theists would claim to be a 1 or 2. Almost every atheist would claim to be a 6. I can't prove there are no gods any more than I can prove there are no fairies or no leprechauns. But I'm quite fucking certain there are no fairies or leprechauns. Same with gods.
