I must say I like Lady Antebellum but there's not too much churchy stuff in their lyrics. Some music can be good even if it is semi religious focused like some of Loreena McKennit stuff which I like to chill out to.

As always happens when meeting a new person I get the surprised sound from either my voice or shock of all shocks a black girl who doesn't like rap! Well I told the driver I usually went for pop, metal, classic rock, and j-pop. And of course I got this comment:"u one of them bougie, too good for the hood type a sista's, huh?" I didn't answer really, I just changed the subject. But I have a question: "Why shouldn't I be?" i live in america and i cant tell you that if you dont speak english you dont like hot dogs baseball ect. I'm atheist and thats not really accepted I'm also into japanese stuff too. These people just hate everything. When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
Country music's lyrics for the most part make me angry. I get the same feeling like when I see clips of Fox News. Either that or it makes me embarrassed to be American. "This is how we do it in 'Murica, big trucks, drank beer, shoot animals, drive tractors..." I mean there's a song called "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy." And this was a hit! My rule in my shop in the Navy was that each squad of sailors rotated control of the radio. It pretty much alternated between country, rap, and mariachi music.
Which sort of speaks to the OP's point. People sort of fit in their niches, but the cool thing in life is to make your own niche. I feel sorry for those people that try so hard to fit what everyone else thinks they should be. I do the things I like, hang out with the people I like, and the people that don't want to hang out with me because I don't fit their mold can go fuck themselves. I feel like atheists can all relate to this in some way. So, BQ, don't get mad. That person is sorely missing out. You are you and that is beautiful. That guy is just an idiot showing his colors.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

That, and of course it's nothing but pop with an exaggerated annoying twang. There's some decent country out there, just like there's some dubstep out there that doesn't make me want to stab myself in the ears with a fucking coconut. There's also some good rap and to be honest, bluegrass musicians are some of the most talented players in the world. It's all about finding good music, period. It's out there, and in every genre. You have to stop letting pop culture define your tastes.
But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret is as though it had an underlying truth.
