My parents were big into faith healing. My older sister missed entire months of school because my dad would gather his church buddies around her, lay their hands on her head, and hope she had faith enough for god to do the rest.

So my new TMJ doctor apparently believes that acupuncture is a valid treatment. I do not take this as a good sign. If he tells me to get out the crystals, I'm done with him.

I'm not surprised. I seem to recall studies published by the WHO concerning acupuncture as a viable option for chronic pain or some such thing, but results are so freaking subjective when dealing with this treatment that it's very hard to tell what's true. My wife's neurologist back in Tucson, AZ had an acupuncturist on the staff, and her insurance covered this treatment.

It seems that Acupuncture as well as Chiropractic treatments are the dodgiest of Alternative Medicines, as it's damn near impossible to get accurate results that show their efficacy.

At least the muscle relaxers he prescribed me are working, though I had to take two instead of one like the label said.

Yeah, he probably can't legally tell you to double the dose or something like that.
