What formula can you use to create Black Powder

I remember we had that in school long time ago, just not how to make it. And i don't quite trust "wikihow.com"
From my memory, you could fire a match and lit the powder, and watch the reaction.

I knew some people who made it when I was a kid. Burned really hot and fizzled. Didn't really go boom. Just burned. These people sorta winged the formula and I'm sure it wasn't quite right.

Commercial black powder is readily available for firearms.

Back then, they would sell to kids or so I heard. Might be a little more stringent nowadays. One would hope.

You have to get the proportions correct, and follow good procedures to get it right. No, I won't be more specific than that. Big Grin

It's not hard, but there are easier ways to blow your fingers off.

Sale is regulated by state law. I *think* the vast majority restrict sales to minors.

You can get a bunch of small basic firecrackers around 4th of july, pull out the fuse, and empty out the contents though the hole to get a quantity of black powder enough for your experiment. Firecrackers are usually filled with black powder.
