Science was once a child of the church.

Meanwhile, our standard of living, food sources, travel , medicine, dentistry, communication; is the result of science. The next time you have need a root canal, see how much Jeebus does for you. And none of this "he works through the dentist's hands!" bullshit. Weak.

If all religious thought were to be wiped from humanity's experience, who would even notice?

The vast majority of scientists today are non-believers - what does that tell you? The fact scientists in the past might have been believers, (when not believing would get you thrown in jail, property confiscated or worse) means nothing. Does Christianity help the pro-billiard player sink that tricky shot? Does Islam help a DBA tune a database query? Does the Mormon angel Moroni help with that electrical wiring? Nope, nope and nope.

Nor does any religion assist the scientist in their work. Science informs religion how things are, not the other way around. Religions must lie, cheat and steal to avoid being made the fool and it isn't working for them. Poor babies!

I don't like religion either, but I don't see those things disappearing if the entire world were atheist.

Stop using your "offence" at the language used to deflect from the points being made. I almost looks like you're deliberately avoiding answering some very good points.

All of the above is meant with no offence my friend, I'd suggest maybe not being such a timid little flower.

I don't like it. I don't like being sweared at either. If that is a requirement here for membership, then withdraw mine.

(June 6, 2014 at 10:53 am)Losty Wrote: OP you do realize there's a difference between swearing and swearing at someone. Right?

I don't do either when I have speaks with people; I consider it rude.

So, as with every other point you've made, it's what you think that's important.....nothing else matters. Despite evidence to the contrary.

I see a pattern here my friend.

And religion is the child of ignorance. Science evolved. Religion did not.
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?

You're still deflecting.

It's not a requirement, nobody is saying that. Just stop being such a pussy about a few bloody words and address the content of what people are actually saying.

I am addressing each and every one, I just do not like being cursed at. Its rude, inconsiderate and foul; it throws off my motivation to respond because its ugly. I don't even date women who curse at me. If she did, its over! And none of my children better not EVER speak with me in that manner, and they never have, and I am 59 years old. And I have never, not once, cursed at them.

I would guess that's why you're single....that and you're very strange ideas on the world.

I have also had 3 wives, none of which cursed at me. And I can't count the amount of girlfriends I have had over the years; been single over a year now, but I still date several women.

Mickiel,

Whilst I understand your sentiment you need to remember that this is the internet and the subjects we are talking about are very emotive.

We allow freedom of speech on this forum (unless it violates one of our rules) and the freedom to swear and curse is apart of that (again, unless it violates the rules).

Please bear this in mind when posting.

Hmmm, 3 wives?

Maybe if you'd have lightened up you might still have one.

They apparently resolved the tension built up from not cursing you by leaving you.

Has the word contribution taken on a meaning not found in dictionaries?

Besides using the word "the" instead of "your", he was correct. And there was no need to repeat yourself.

Of course he is correct, he is talking about his on expectations, and could hardly help but be right.

I am talking about my assessment about how well his expectations would be realized.

I have never had a woman leave me before, I have left each one I had. Now I can't get one.
