Confirmed. I thought he installed a new one a few months ago. I'll see if I can get Tib to look at it.

That sounds vaguely obscene.

Yes it is related and yes the site is accessible by https.
However, right now, you get a warning that the certificate is not valid... it only happens once. I added this certificate to the exceptions list of firefox and it just works as well as it has always worked.

Encrypted data transfer between client and server... no snooping in between these two points.
It's important for many people around here.
I use mostly out of paranoia... it's also a good practice to keep your ISP out of earshot.
ISPs have way too much power in their hands, should they choose to wield it.

What's a SSL certificate?
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security
Quote:Transport Layer Security (TLS) and its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), are cryptographic protocols designed to provide communication security over the Internet.[1] They use X.509 certificates and hence asymmetric cryptography to authenticate the counterparty with whom they are communicating, and to exchange a symmetric key. This session key is then used to encrypt data flowing between the parties. This allows for data/message confidentiality, and message authentication codes for message integrity and as a by-product, message authentication. Several versions of the protocols are in widespread use in applications such as web browsing, electronic mail, Internet faxing, instant messaging, and voice-over-IP (VoIP). An important property in this context is forward secrecy, so the short-term session key cannot be derived from the long-term asymmetric secret key.[2]
