If you haven't heard about it, you must have been living in a hole for the past few days. A lot of female celebrities nude photos have been leaked onto the internet including those of Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton. Apparently someone hacked their cloud account or something, I don't know.
Of course the backlash on the internet has been enormous. You get the stereotypical feminists spitting venom at anyone who even hints at the idea that the celebrities themselves were a bit foolish in keeping nude pictures online. I read some comments where one person said that but also that the celebs were victims and of course there was a feminazi screaming back that he was a mysogynist and a horrible person.
But seriously. These celebs are victims. But it's kind of the same thing when your house gets robbed. If you leave all your windows and doors open and leave the house and it gets robbed, it that your fault? No. Of course not. The theif is the one to blame. However, that doesn't stop you from being stupid. You can be foolish and a victim at the same time (something that a lot of people don't seem to accept).
Putting nude pictures online is a foolish thing to do. We live in a world where there are creepy people who will go to great lengths to get this kind of thing, and they have the means to do it. We shouldn't have to take precautions against these kinds of things, but we have to, that is the world we live in. I would love to be able to leave my door unlocked when I leave the house. I would love to be able to use my expensive phone in the bad part of town. I would love to be able to take the shortcut through the alley next to the crack house. But doing so would be foolish. Call me a mysogynist if you want, but I take the world as it is, not how I want it to be.
