Why are spiders more scary than sharks?

RE: Why are spiders more scary than sharks?
Humans are afraid of what they are ignorant of. I was afraid of spiders and sharks before I became educated. No offense intended. Read-up; spiders and sharks kick ass!

BTW: The Human species is more destructive than both of them combined Wink

Not to mention spiders whose bite is or can be lethal. Add in the fact that they're small, creepy looking, 8-legged, can (and even like to) hide in small places and you're never more than 5 feet from one.

These are the reasons many people consider them scarier than sharks.

And you can't accidentally swallow sharks in your sleep. If you could, then I'd be scared of sharks

Yes, but sharks can accidentally swallow you in its sleep.

Should digesting something mildly disgusting scare you more than being digested by something toothy?

But lobsters have more legs than spiders, and fear of lobsters is pretty rare, I think.

If you take the rubber bands off of the pinchers of a big lobster, Then I bet what's left of your hand will come to fear lobster more than any spider.

It's more that sharks are significantly bigger than spiders. Apart from the brazilian wandering spider. That thing would send most people scarpering Tongue

Since I live hundreds of miles from the nearest free-ranging shark, no. Especially considering I live in one of the few places where I can have both Brown Recluse and Black Widows living in my fire wood pile.

I'll take the lobster's pincers over Brown Recluse or Black Widow venom any day!

I'll take any widow venom (Black, brown or red) over Brown Recluse venom. The neurological pain from widow venom is something that can be managed quickly, as long as you're a healthy adult.

But that necrotic shit the Brown Recluse releases into you, no thanks. I like my skin the way it is.

Sharks I can avoid.

They are not hiding in every crack and crevice of my home and yard, like the ebil - ebil spiders are!

I do not have to worry that a shark will suddenly skitter across the floor, right in front of me, sending me straight to the ceiling. Confusedhock:

Except brown recluse spiders are really hard to provoke, have really short fangs, and you have to press one up against your skin to elicit a bite. Even then, majority of the bites have so little effect that they go unnoticed, and a small percentage cause serious problems.

Great white, on the other hand, need no provocation, have really long teeth, will hunt you down, and will usually bleed you out.

RE: Why are spiders more scary than sharks?
Spiders are scarier than sharks because I don't have to regularly deal with sharks. They're off in the ocean doing sharky things, where as I'm sitting at home in my spare room absolutely sure that a spider is in my floor vent 10 feet away and I don't know if it's poisonous or not. And that's scary.

Plus I'm an arachnophobic. But I'm working on it, I swear! I've trapped, transported and released into the wild at least four big, black, super scary spiders I've found in my house since I moved in, something I was completely incapable of accomplishing a year ago.

Oh, and update on my spider-in-my-floor-register situation: I still haven't dealt with it. Undecided

I am going to google it now, but I think spiders kill more people per year than sharks.
