These?

Yes you have the right too. Agreed. I also have the right to drive a expensive sports car with $100 bills layed out all over the dash down into the crack-house district without someone trying to pinch my $100 bills.

Because you can doesn't mean you should.

Dunno, I wasn't there.

This woman is also dressed for a cold fall day. -->[Image: american_apparel_animal_print_leggings.jpg]

And then they get stoned to death because they must have been asking for it.

Of course, there is not but a single way a girl can be attractive Wink

Paul Wrote:Even these woman get raped. The clothing isn't the culprit.

Nobody says it is. However, it is a contributing factor. Also, would you kindly exemplify a man raping a woman while she is still wearing the that clothing, and not 'ripping it off' so to speak? Sleepy

People also can steal from you for 6 bucks and a beer, and kill you while they do so. Money isn't the "culprit" for theft (that would be the person who steals, and with rape it would be the one who rapes)... however is is a contributing factor to being stolen from.

To use a non-crime example... what's the fat kid more likely to choose to eat when given the choice: A bunch of Brussels spouts that make him gag... or his favorite burger? The sprouts and the burger are not the "culprit" for fatty's eating choice... their status as things he likes and dislikes, however, is. Therefore the burger's status as a thing he likes is a contributing factor to at least a consideration of what to eat on his part... and often it would be a contributing factor to his choice of what to eat. Smile

Now when a girl is dressed in a way that arouses sexual feelings... her clothing style is a contributing factor to those thoughts. If those thoughts should manifest in the form of rape, then it is clear that the clothing was a factor that contributed to her being raped. Another possible factor to her being raped might have been her not carrying around a gun, or not shooting the rapist soon enough. Nobody here is suggesting that sexy clothing will have a person raped... but it is just ignorant to not recognize that it will appeal to rapists, and might well contribute to her being raped in the event that she is. Sleepy

It's not as if there are any other female targets to choose from (than those wearing those things) Sleepy But of course, the rapists in those countries would probably blame the rape on the woman Sleepy

RE: Objectifying women
I agree completely, Sae. The only point I was trying to make is that rape can and will happen whether a woman dresses provocatively or not. If a woman does dress provocatively, and she gets raped... the clothing may have caused the rapist to target her (because she looked sexy), but he probably would have raped someone. It is never the woman's fault she got raped.

If a woman wears skimpy clothing, I certainly take notice. I don't commit rape, though. If someone commits rape... it wasn't because of the clothing or that fact that the woman was sexy. The fault is all on the rapist. Sexy women are everywhere... and if that was cause for rape... there would be a lot more rapes.
RE: Objectifying women
The fault is all the rapists, the blame is all the rapists. The rapist caused the rape. It's just that there may be ways of avoiding rape and drawing attention to yourself isn't one of them. And you're right Paul, if someone avoids drawing attention to themselves the rapist would likely rape someone else anyway.

The fact you can take possible precautions doesn't mean it's your "fault" if you get raped. Obviously not.

RE: Objectifying women
It's easy to assume that dressing more conservatively might lower a woman's odds of being raped, but I am unaware of any reason to believe that's true. Are most rapists motivated by the way his victim looks? I doubt that they are, but I don't know the statistics... or if there even are any.

Asking women not to dress provocatively in order to be safer from rapists... seems like a form of Pascal's Wager.
