The referendum failed because the Scots went about it wrong. That way it's supposed to work is:
-You wait til England is engaged in a war, then start your own.
-At the end of the war, you agree to a compromise that pleases no one.
-You make sure you have some people SO displeased that they wage a guerilla war on innocent people for decades.
-At the end of THAT war (which really isn't the end, btw), you agree to yet another compromise that (big shock) pleases no one.

And indiscriminate haggis attacks.
In view of the Scots and their love of haggis, I do admit to a level of intellectual curiosity in regards to how they would have governed themselves . . .

So, Scotland defeated the referendum vote 55 to 45 percent. Here's what might happen next.

Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?
Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

Very tasty; very sweet.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I think the should allow an unbiased country recount the votes.. Otherwise their will always be lingering questions.

Let me guess: America? We've been at war with most of the others on and off for at least a thousand years. It's hard to be unbiased in the political arena.
