I love Bill Maher

So according to Maher, we shouldn't do anything to stop the ISIS genocide. I guess we over-reacted to the holocaust too. Westerner's are NOT the only people being murdered! Sometimes he is brilliant, other times he is such an idiot.

It is not a moral position to say we are not the worlds policeman, anytime you don't help those in need when you have the ability, you are an ass. What we need to do is get away from respecting peoples' delusions and imaginary friends like it it some moral good when in fact that respect is a moral evil.

We broke it once, Brakes. Do you really think we can "fix" it? Get real.

Have you noticed those who prizes simplistic solutions involving brute military power and wish thinking over insightful solution involving forethought, patience, and understandings of politics and motivations of all involved will always mention holocaust whenever their approach is challenged? It's almost as if holocaust is some sort of mentra or talisman that can bless any foreign policy blunder involving the immediate use of American tax dollars for ammunition.

I wonder what the victims of holocaust might think of the fact that their plight would be milked by 4th rate cranks, 3nd rate policy hacks and 2nd rate propagandist for centuries after their tragedy has ended.

I think one is right 98% of the time if one dismiss out of hand any contemporary foreign policy advocacy involving the word holocaust as a shabby justification for an ill thought out and destructive approach that won't end well.

NO,I say leave ISIS killing poople . They are drawing more attention to this stupid barbaric religion(Islam) and showing its true nature to everybody .

but ofc, the muslims will typically say : Oh, that is not the true Islam .

No, doing the same thing and and expecting different results is a definition of crazy. No, the same strategy would be idiotic, but that doesn't mean there are no sane military strategies that couldn't prevent the massacres.

If the executions of innocent men women and children is not a worthy call for US military intervention, what is? Seriously - answer this question.

Why have a military at all unless you are actually so xenophobic as to believe that we should only have love and have compassion for the lives of American men, women, and children and to "hell" with anyone who doesn't have a USA flag tattooed on their butt?

The reason the holocaust was mentioned was as a reference that Maher is of jewish origin and that they preach that we should never "forget" both the evil of genocide and the importance of standing up to protect the helpless.
I was not making Glenn Beck style references.

Now the million dollar question is, what would be a successful strategy?
My best guess off of the cuff would be a strategy of containment, such as segregation lines of no man's land to slice up the country and stop the movements into the non-muslim and non-isis territories. That would buy time for ideological battles, and resembles nothing of the previous kiss up to the most radical mullah strategies of the bush and Obama 1 admins.

Yeah that's fine for the muslims, but what about the victims? Do you have no compassion for them? Are they not the right skin color for you to care about? If ISIS gave their condemned prisoners a last phone call and they called you, would you tell them to their face, "sorry, sucks to be you!?"


I love my fellow man and I don't love or care less for a person if they happen to live beyond our borders. I would again take up great bodily risk to protect my brothers and sisters here in the US or in the rest of the world. I'm too old go fight against injustice in the military, but that doesn't stop me from doing what I can. I pay expensive taxes that pay for our military and I sure as hell would rather them to go fight for the just cause of genocide prevention rather than for the usual fight for oil fields.

Just a point of pedantry. America did not react to the holocaust. America declared war on Germany only after Germany declared war or America. In recent years this seems to have been glossed over to have America charging gallantly to rescue the beleaguered Europe.

If anything pisses me off more than naked assertions made with no evidence, the idea that cussing and blasphemy can be put in the same category as violence like that of Isis, or the government oppression of North Korea.

If you want to know what oppression is, go move to North Korea where you are not allowed to offend the state. Go to Iraq and see if you can even be polite to Isis in telling them why they are wrong.

I really get tired of well intended people thinking forced politeness and politically correctness is a good tactic to maintain civility.

Absolutely true. The west did little to prevent the continued killings of Jews, which makes Maher's isolationist views stand out in contrast to today's views. Most humans on planet earth today think the west was wrong to not make any effort to stop the genocide.

WWII was a oil field war as well, US tried to strangle Japan with an oil embargo, Japan attacked Pear Harbor to break the embargo. Germany attacked Russia to obtain the Baku Oilfields due to their oil embargo from the west.
