Atheism is unreasonable
RE: Atheism is unreasonable
(November 2, 2014 at 1:16 pm)His_Majesty Wrote: Lets take away all of the fluff and feathers for a minute. Let's take away all of the technical babble, all of the rhetoric for just a second.

I can't speak for every religion, but I am a Christian theist. Now what does that imply? Well, that would mean that I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of mankind, and that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

That is basically my belief in a nut shell. Now, if you are an atheist, you may find my beliefs laughable, sickening, stupid, etc....which is fine, Christianity isn't for everyone because after all, Jesus said "But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it." (Matt 7:14).

But as an atheist, here is what you have to believe...you have to believe that billions of years ago before humanity, dead matter was floating around in space...and for whatever reason, suddenly, this dead matter "came to life". Not only did it come to life, but it came to life and began thinking, talking, and having sex.

Just think about that for a second. This non-living material suddenly CAME TO LIFE. For the life of me, I just can't get myself to believe that, even if I tried. I just don't understand how naturalism/atheism is a more reasonable position than theism.

You have to believe that a process that can't think or see, created consciousness. So consciousness came from a process that can't think??

I just don't have enough faith to be an atheist.

Relax, you don't have to understand, we've got it covered.

"The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions" - Leonardo da Vinci

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

I don't know if the following belongs here or in the Ground Gears thread, but I'll put it here.

I don't understand this term "evolutionist". In order to be an "evolutionist" there would have to be a movement or group or something that would be "evolutionism". That's like saying someone who accepts the theory of gravity as a "gravitist" who believes in "gravitism". It's ridiculous.

creationist can be a group its supported by god made us and science is a lie.
Evolutionist is not really a group like you said.

It's because Evolution is a fact, but creationists often confuse it with ToE which seeks to explain it.

They're using youtube videos, just the wrong ones. Truth to tell, it's hard to wade through all the creationist garbage on youtube when searching for a simple science term. They're very active in posting their skewed views on the channel.

There is only one 'god' and it looks like this:

i watched a youtube video on how the universe and the world end.
one person said god won't let that happen. i replied yeah its happening
its going to happen nothing can stop it. all good things come to a end.
he replied but god can't allow his creation to perish he would have to stop it. me well that's if a god exists yes he wouldn't let it happen but clearly its happening and there is nothing no one can can do about it.

Well, since Origin of Species, there was a movement within the scientific community ROFLOL A movement which consists of people that believe in voodoo science. I'd call that a movement.

His "water canopy" hypothesis is laughable on every level possible.

He, like you, are fractally wrong.

Say, where is the illustrious Mr. Hovind these days?

Oh, yeah - in prison, for tax fraud.

Speaks volumes to his character.

Fallacy of Ad Hominem..and borderline Genetic Fallacy.

Keep the fallaciousness alive, people.
