No need to get excited.
WHAT WOULD YOU THINK OR SAY IF YOU DIE AND FIND OUT THAT YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS IS STILL ALIVE AND WELL AND GOD IS THERE?

Your body is left behind to rot but your body is not you anymore.
You are there facing God.
1) Would you say.........oh, well there was no evidence that you existed that is why i never believe that you exist.
2) I was wrong in not looking at all options.
3) I never thought that by refusing to consider that you exist i could not expect that you manifest in my consciousness.

If none of these options come closer to your thinking then please express your thought.
I am curious to know what you would say to this HYPOTHETICAL God in this HYPOTHETICAL case.
Thanks. Smile

I'd say 1) out of any of the three you offered.

Option 2) presumes that the reason one doesn't believe in a god is because they were too lazy to look into it at all, when it's quite the opposite in most cases. Typically, it's the ongoing search for answers based in reality that causes one to conclude the Judeo-christian (and other deities) god just simply isn't there. Many atheists, such as myself, were very diligent Christians. Somewhere along the way, we began to ask questions to quell an uneasiness in our understanding that religion just couldn't resolve.

The issue I have with choice 3) is that, again, it presumes a falsity. It assumes atheists don't believe in God because they actively refuse to (the rebellion mentality). It's based on reasoning most atheists just simply don't adhere to. We don't refuse to believe in God, we just don't see any reason to. If it requires faith (to believe in the face of absent evidence) to be believed, it's probably not based in reality.

You know how much i take in deep consideration your comments.
Anyway coming back to your important comment i would say 2 things.
1) Willing or unwilling i am forced to listen the crappy chatting.
2) It make me feel a bit down thinking that so many people have such a chicken brain and this boil down to the fact that many of these people are or will be in a position of command screwing the planet earth further down. Confused Fall

The point still has trouble finding you, doesn't it?

Whatever the reasons for all these people doing as you described - socialising with friends and loved ones, making sure someone was okay, passing on good/bad news, basically getting on with their lives - you, sad little cockfart that you are, sat there passing judgement on them from on high. And they are the sad ones? Get real, for once in your bizarre life.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

When you images of something that image is your slave.
When an hypothetical God create an universe with his imagination that vision is in a way his slave so it is also correct what you say.
But the news are not that bad as they seems.
As soon as you realize that you (hypothetically) come from the mind of the supreme consciousness then you also realize that you are a transformation of God into what you think you are now.
If you use your brains properly you also would realize that the vision can RE-ENTER his mind and you are him. Smile

Uh, no, I'm not so narcissistic as to think of myself as some God.

The universe exist for billions of years.
Without balance it would have gone ages ago.
Suppose you run a business.
You know how to run it.
After sometime you go away and the workforce take over.
The vision that you had is gone and now different people try to run the business according to their wishes.
The clashes between different people start and after sometime the business can no longer operate in a proper way as everybody for himself.
The whole business will collapse.
The same thing would happen in a universe without a controller with a proper vision.

Happiness rarely come when you do the wrong thing.
Mr big after robbing and getting a train full of cash end up in the rotting scrap.
Happiness build upon crime last only for a short time.
When instead your happiness last and last it means that you do the correct thing and the truth is part of this happiness so they go hand in hand.

Both spirituality and religion believe in God but while spirituality is internal progress religions are concern about external worship which can not lead to any progress.
As i thought you haven't got a clue about the difference among the two.
Suppose we two have a car.
I use the car to go to work while you (hypothetically) use the car to go to rob a bank.
Both of us believe in the value of our cars but the reasons are different. Cool Shades

There is a small thing that you don't take in consideration.
The force that drive you to learn more and more is the same force that drive you to go back to where you came from.
Obviously if you try to put a brake to where this force may take you you only delay the time of your return but eventually willing or unwilling this force will take you back where you really belong.
There is no escape.
When you think about (suppose) an elephant this vision come from your mind and to your mind sooner or later will inevitably will have to go back.
At the same time you have no choice but going back to where you come from. Smile

God could say..............do you seriously think that the universe can exist and be alive for billions of years just by pure chances and without anyone that make sure that everything works ok?

It is natural that religions can not solve that problem.
They look externally when in fact God is within.
I point the finger there (within) but you look at my finger and get lost and confused. (an hypothetical God)

First of all you should understand what reality is.
Is this universe a reality?
Can something moving and changing all the time be a reality? Thinking

Is this a joke? You think the universe works like a business?

Happiness is not an indicator of truth. Take any fairy tale as an example like Santa Clause.

You're sadly mistaken that religions are only concern about external worship. This maybe the focus of Judeo-Christian religions, but it is not for all religions. For example, Buddhism is a religion, and it focus on internal struggle of removing oneself from wants.

RE: If
The universe is not a business. If there is such an agent keeping balance, why do we have net rising entropy, approaching heat death?

The solar system for example loses radiation energy, and after the sun has gone red giant and killed everything, the orbits of the remaining planets will, in the long run, lose radiation energy, spiral inwards and get eaten. Why on earth do you think there is someone keeping balance?

Yes, of course. Change is the only constant. Why, what did you think reality is? (Glad I could help you with that.)

Gee, i thought it is me that try to help you.
The term constant got to be taken very very carefully.
Constant is here now in this present time but time like everything else vary.
The universe never stay the same so everything within this universe change.
It is all up for a change.
The new constant will be in tune with the change which will be different from today constant.
The old discoveries have been dumped in the rubbish bin of history to be replaced by new one which once again will be replaced by newer.
The constant of today will not be the constant of tomorrow.
One day it is thought that the faster thing is the speed of light, in the future i am sure it will be discover that smaller particles can move in no time but again you are free to think that today discoveries are the ultimate and nothing can be superior.
To me the real reality is really what is unchangeable. Smile
