RE: If
1. Did evolution have a beginning ?
2. Is evolution active now ?
3. Is evolution an earth bound law / theory or is it universal (i.e. could it happen any where in the universe)?
4. How far will evolution evolve life ?
5. Why would the evolutinary process not produce an entity with the properties of what we now call a god ?
6. Would you agree that humans have achieved the ability to change the evolutionary process of natural selection in life forms to something other than natural selection ?

Watch out Rikky. Looks like there is a new nut job trying to squat on your pseudo thread.

1. Yes. When replicators replicated themselves imperfectly.
2. Yes. There is a reason why we don't use antibotics everywhere.
3. Not earth bound. Only seen on earth because we haven't explored anywhere else thoroughly.
4. Don't know.
5. Evolution is a product of nature; God is suppose to be supernatural. So how can a natural process create a supernatural being? I'm going with no on this one.
6. Yes. Dog breads and parasite-resistent crops are good examples of this.

Because, as I said, they don't work the same way. I thought you were making some progress, but you seem to have regressed a bit. Hang in there, though, I haven't given up on you.

Well, I have, but let's pretend otherwise so we can drag this discussion a few more pages.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I like that........Because, as I said.
Also Father Christmas say a lot of things.
That doesn't mean that both you and father Christmas are correct.
Where is your evidence that you are correct?
Both the brain and the car need and I that decide to make to move so why they shouldn't work in the same way? Confused Fall

I pointed it out already-- the brain manages a number of biological activities that you do not have to consciously control --such as breathing-- and others that you couldn't possibly control --such as heartbeat. You also dream every night even though you may not even be aware that you had a dream. You are likely not in control of any of your dreams, as evidenced by the fact that most people easily accept even the strangest scenarios when we are dreaming. Even the dreams you remember, you probably joined partway through.

Tell me again how the "I" is doing anything in any of those instances.

I should add that I find it amusing that you, of all people, suddenly don't accept "I said so" as an argument. Perhaps you are making progress after all.

I ALREADY SAID SO. (you like that?)Smile
You are presuming that when the brain is engaged in the dream activity the I is off when the medical science has still to discover how the system works.
The medical science still hasn't got a clue about the role of the consciousness and the interaction between the brain and the consciousness but you come out with your ......I SAID SO.
How the hell would you know whether the consciousness is active or not during the sleeping and dreaming process or of any other body process like the heart beat?
You presume that if you are not awake the I is off.
How do you know that?
In yoga the I works like in any speeding process.
It can go slow, fast or can keep any speed according to the individual stamina so when the individual is sleeping it would go very very slow and when is awake it would go as fast as the individual stamina allow.
If the I goes very very slow also the brain goes very very slow and that is the stage in which there is a deep sleep with no dreams and only the heart beat and other body activities works but when the I is still a bit more active then also the brain is a little bit active with the so called dreams. Start from the beginning is the most important thing in life.
There is an old say.............TO KNOW ALL YOU MUST FIRST KNOW YOURSELF.
This is the real beginning.
But there is also something very important to do first as well and that is to keep your mind open for all the possibilities.
Just in case there is a God.
From here the road to real progress is a lot easier. Smile

So now that you have an argument against your claims, you are claiming that "medical science" doesn't know enough about it? Then how do you know anything about the brain and the level of control that the "I" has? It seems to me that you go entirely by which version of "I SAID SO" you happen to like, and not by any sort of actual understanding of how the brain works.

You're taking steps back again, Rik. You're going to wind up back where you started! Try to keep up!
