Good on you, Steely. I listened to coverage yesterday and today on the radio and was moved. We still have so much of a march ahead of us -- but good on you for putting your feet in the line.

One would think no just put it out there that is the same religion that got them enslaved and should hate it
but its the exact opposite.
Well, the thing is that they see the religion as having carried them through it, too. I don't doubt there's more than a little Israelites-in-Egypt righteousness inhabiting the ones I've met. "We suffered and even still kept our faith!" is a good slogan for those limp of mind and spine.

Mostly, I think an anti-button would be a bad idea here. And then I see posts like this one. What exactly do you think you are accomplishing?
Even in war re enactments someone has to be the rebels, or Germans or japs. Even when the surviving jews went back to auschwitz the grounds were perserved as a museum a shrine to not only the Jews but to the Germans as well. Why? So the survivors do not attempt to erase one side of the story or the other. That only the truth remain.
The exact opposite of what Oprah and her movie Selma did, and how it vilified all white authority including misrepresenting LBJ's role in signing civil rights into law.
I asked specifically about the 60's police officers because the vast majority did their FRIGGEN jobs and protected men like Dr. King and even Malcom X even when they didn't want to.
I asked about 60's police officers to take our history back from morally bankrupt people who would dare to say all police in that era beat black people with clubs and tear gas 24/7.
I hate the way this generation is re writting history to suit its self righteous agenda so I make comments and ask questions to make people think beyond the box pop culture would have you stay in...
But I guess your right an anti button is a bad idea here. We would not want to offend any non whites.

First of all this was not a "re-enactment" like a war re-enactment. It was a memorialization of an event. We weren't pretending to be the 600 men and women that walked that path on Bloody Sunday. If we were, then yes, someone would have pretended to be the Alabama State Troopers as well. We were a group of people looking to remember what the people who went before us went through so that we could walk over that bridge 50 years later without fear.

You are so seriously deluded by the bullshit you watch on Fox News. No one has EVER said that every white man was lining up in the streets to kick every black man. I have not heard it. I know it to not be true. The movie Selma showed some of those white people lining up to march with Dr. King in the second march. But you won't acknowledge that.
You have some utter nerve to accuse ANYONE of rewriting history to suit their agenda. You want to discount the idea of telling the story of those who struggled because there were some people present that were doing the bare minimum as decent humans? You don't want their story to get washed out when we look back?
I'll tell you what, Drich. You sing the hymns of the aggrieved white man, who has it so hard these days. Sing it loud. Hopefully someone will give a shit. It's not me.

You've always shown yourself to be incredibly stupid. I would like to think that is your problem here once again, but there's something in this reply that leads me to believe you are intentionally being a cunt.
The part that bothers me isn't your typical unfamiliarity with facts, but the way you are blase about the unwarranted assault on people in order to draw attention to the potential fact that not all police officers at the time were racist. You then claim that history is being rewritten because this isn't being emphasized? There's something a bit sinister in all this.

Cool stuff, Steel. Living in a predominantly white New England state, it's hard to imagine that Selma was only 50 years ago. That said, if Ferguson can be counted as any indication, we still have a very long way to go.

It wasn't intended to be a historical reenactment of a previous march. It was not a march to recreate history. No one was dressing up as 60s protesters. It was a peaceful commemoration of march that had ended in violence.
Veterans Day parades don't generally include people representing the opposing side because they aren't historical reenactments. This was essentially the same.

It's morally bankrupt to say all police officers beat black people with clubs? Really? Wrong, I'll grant you, but morally bankrupt?

I have never seen the Civil Rights Movement taught in such a way as to suggest either that there weren't law abiding police officers who did their jobs properly
or that there weren't white people who participated one the side of civil rights.
But that does not change the fact that at this particular bridge peaceful marchers asking for no more than equal rights were met with officers wielding billy clubs.

I don't see the relevance. Why would a thumbs down button offend non-whites? It's theists who would likely get the thumbs down on this forum.

Leave it to Drich to claim that a celebration by African-Americans of their overcoming adversity is whitewashing the white man's history. I mean, someone's got to stand up for white people, right?
All the more perplexing given it's coming from someone that can't wait to tell you how he's been looked down upon because he's half Korean.

See the bold part in the statement above. It seems you stopped reading/comperhending at the word re-enactment.
Again for those who are slow to understand, the example of a war re enactment was used to underline the importance of repersenting both sides in a rememberance. That what war re enactments are. That is why I also used the proper example of the Germans and Jews both being repersented in the Auschwitz.
Again with out true repersentation of both sides, what you have ceases to be a rememberance of things past, and you replace it with propaganda.
I am not using the propaganda as a hot topic/elicite a response word. Propaganda's literal defination is based on those actions.
prop·a·gan·da
/ˌpräpəˈɡandə/
noun
noun: propaganda; noun: Propaganda
1.derogatory information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.
If the otherside is not repersented in anyway, then you have a bias that is being used to promote a particular political point.
Again That Is Why German Involvement Is So Accuratly Portrayed In The Properly Done Auschwitz rememberance.

Appearently it was a different movie than what Joseph A. Califano Jr. of the Washington Post or JENNIFER SCHUESSLER of the NY Times saw as well. http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/t...story.html

Quote:No one has EVER said that every white man was lining up in the streets to kick every black man. I have not heard it.
And I did not say that, did I? I simply asked where 60's police officers also repersented in that march? Because with out them King, jackson, and all the other civial rights leaders would have been strung up long before they became house hold names.
Quote:I know it to not be true. The movie Selma showed some of those white people lining up to march with Dr. King in the second march. But you won't acknowledge that.
:Jerkoff: you do even know what is being discussed do you? You want to argue the typical white/black crap, and I'm pointing to all the grey that 'you people' want to ignore to push white/black propaganda.
What I'm trying to bring attention to is the truth that propagandists seem to forget. That if not for the 'bad guys' in today's media (police and goverment officals) civial rights would remain a dream that we dare not speak of. Movies like selma tend to be more hate inspiring and segergational than educational or informitive. Then to put on a remberance march without proper repersentation of both side reaks of brain washing!

Educate your self before you speak next time. just do a simple google search before you respond in a forum, to at least see where your opponet is comming from. Otherwise you look the fool when someone like me provides legit evidence to support the unpopular thing I just said.
Quote:I'll tell you what, Drich. You sing the hymns of the aggrieved white man, who has it so hard these days. Sing it loud. Hopefully someone will give a shit. It's not me.
Again, your a douche for not knowing this is not a black or white discussion. It is a discussion of the truth, and how the truth is being hidden away for black and white discussions.
