He said "go ye to thee forum of non-believers and telleth Drich that he must leave there at once and spake only to gods children from now on"

Several years ago I was waiting in bed for my Sam to come home from visiting Shell three floors above and though I felt awake, my brain must have been starting to sleep. It's known as an hypnagogic state; the mind says "fuck you, I'll start dreaming without you - you can catch me up ". I distinctly heard her voice from outside the bedroom, calling me weakly for help. Of course, I instantly leaped out of bed to help, and she wasn't there. The flat was empty. I went outside onto the landing in case she was there; she wasn't. I went back and lay in bed for about half an hour before she came tapping down the stairs safe and sound.

As you say, the human mind is incredibly deceiving. It's the least reliable witness and we have to be sceptical of pretty much everything it says.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Yeah, I know that state and experience it rather frequently. Though in my case it's rather noises than voices.

I hear voices when I turn the vacuum cleaner on (it's old and noisy).

I hate it when they come out with all these talking gadgets. The lift in the flats tells me all the floors I'm passing, my alarm clock keeps wishing me a good morning, and the bedside lamp whispers in my ear to go out and kill prostitutes. It's so fucken annoying.

Jesus: "Sorry. Traffic!"

I have hallucinated quite a few times over the years. Minor things, but they could easily be mistaken for a religious experience by someone desperate to come to that conclusion.

(March 16, 2015 at 5:38 pm)Dontsaygoodnight Wrote: He has spoken to me. I could only become an anti-Christ at this point. I had long misunderstood what Jesus meant by "the meek shall inherit the Earth", because I understood the word, "meek", to be along the lines of submissive, yielding, gentle but in regards to my relationship with fellow humans. What he meant was that those who are formed by God will inherit the Earth. So blessed are those that can be molded by God.
I didn't see The Meek/Anti Christ thing as a quote from Christ..

To be identified as the Anti Christ because one does not have one particular understanding of a single word or act is not... "Christ like" (I don't like the term as it is far too often used as a way to manipulate people tring to do the right thing.)

But, here it applies. Christ is many different instances called his diciples "Dummies" or rather the first century version of 'Dummy' when they did not understand a principle or idea. Then He corrected them. Never an 'Anti Christ.' Heck even look at how he met and dealt with Judas the night of his betrayal.. Still he did not identify him as an anti Christ.

I thought those were just observations made by the OP after Jesus said what was said. Rather his own commentary about what was actually said.

I do to a degree with his defination of Meek. For me 'Meek and Humble before God are the same. In that a Humble man can be molded into whatever role God would have Him play. The same too is true for the Meek man. and the two also share in humility toward God, which they will no doubt reap a reward from.

Where we differ is the humility toward our fellow man.

I take the stance to humble myself before God because This is our single most greatest command. However our Greatest commands do not stop there. we also Have 'Love your neighbor as your self.' Which also speaks to Humbling yourself to your neighbor is a way that you yourself would approve of.

That said when we then look at the verse "The meek shall inherit the earth, we must also look at everything else Jesus actually said in the bible concerning the topic, and make sure it all jives together.

Therefore in light of our greatest command (Love God with all you being and your neighbor as your self) then weigh that in with the statment 'The meek shall inherit the earth.' a very clear picture of whom Jesus is identifying as 'meek' appears. It is as the OP suggests, but it also includes a servant of his fellow man. Much like Christ was.
With this:

Jenny A Wrote:The interesting thing is that you don't all come back with the same understanding of what he said. For example your understanding of what was meant by meek, isn't exactly mainstream, and others who say they have encountered god, say other things, even about that every verse. Yet other have an encounter with Allah.
'Mainstream' doesn't really have any hold or say with God. The Pharisees and Saducees were 'Mainstream' in Christ's day, and they didn't have it right.. Not even close.

More or less.
