So, then, if my missus burns my morning toast, I'm NOT supposed to use the report button??

Only if Joe Pesci bears a resemblance to one.

What the staff do here is appreciated by me. I'm not perfect and got out of line, was told to take it outside and did so. End of it. No point in acting like a child because I had to be reminded of something. I took time to cool off because I needed to. I'd rather walk away from the boards for a little while and focus my energies on something else than end up getting banned. It's not worth it. I like participating too much. It's called being a grown up and moving on. Too bad some can't seem to grasp this concept. If they could then it would make the jobs the staff do, much easier. But alas... I sense that there is some immaturity on these boards and so the babysitting continues.

There have been posters who annoyed me or who I felt were offensive. I didn't report them because I don't think it is the mods job to protect me from being offended.

So, how about adding another report button in addition to the one that is already there.
The new one would be larger, and brightly colored, maybe even blinky.
It would be our little secret it doesn't actually do anything, but it would be therapeutic for those that feel the urge to report all the times.

If I type something stupid or just plain wrong and against the rules I would expect someone to tell me not to do that again. This is sensible, everyone makes mistakes, it's just the morons who don't learn from their mistakes that cause problems.

I say, use the report button all you want. It gives mods something to do. And you will get the opportunity to see how they react to your actions. Consider it a science experiment, where one gets to see how far one has to go to get banned. It is like smoking in a theater:
