Objections: The Gathering

Here is my objection. You claim to have an all powerful god on your side, yet you continually fail to convince us of anything. Is that evidence that in fact you have no such thing on your side? Or is it too puny to even convince a weak minded atheist that it's anything more than in your imagination?

#6 for me. The concept of eternal damnation doesn't sit well with most rational people (theists included). I think it's very telling that humans, supposedly the flawed creation of God, have come together and created a concept of justice which is superior than that of its creator. We understand that punishments need to fit their crimes and that thought-crime is something which should not be punished.

#9  I have a moral objection to christianity which cannot be overcome by theodicy or apology.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

#10 if there is a god, how come we only get to hear about him from the Randys of this world?

Let the big guy do the talking, bub.

Anthropomorphic/personal gods existing is unlikely, childish, and silly.

#12 Your religion proposes far too many logical inconsistencies to be plausible and has infallibly contradicted itself several times.

Got any more from the apologetics textbook?

That's 1.01 from some arguments to use on unbelievers handout, I'm sure. Especially #8 points very strongly in that direction. Sitting back, grabbing a pack of popcorn and watch the show unfold. I'm pretty certain, the answers will be copy paste textbook as well.

So for me it would be none of the above, since they're all so brazenly simplistic that the message doesn't hit home.

For me it's the other way round: Men are responsible for all of the above. There is no god, just some legend invented by a not very civilized bunch of people. Except for #8 of course. That's a phishing expedition.

It would be more helpful if you listed these inconsistencies and contradictions as opposed to merely asserting that they exist.

Thanks.

Interesting thread, Randy. Definitely following this one as well. Smile
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Oooooh, no, I'm sorry, but we cannot accept that answer.

Please be more precise.
