I'm wondering if some of the success Trump is seeing so far has to do with how utterly fed-up people (at least on the Republican side) are with the status quo. There's also the fact that the Republican base is just fucking insane. Look at how far Rick Santorum got in the 2012 primary.

There is a sizable wing of the republicunt party which is pissed off about everything. There is no dealing with people who want the country like it was in the 1950's.

I don't which would be worse: If Trump is being earnest about his views, or if he is being insincere.

You know, I don't really think Trumps views are that different than most Republicans. It's just the way that he expresses them that's different. I'm not really following politics very closely right now, so I could be wrong, but does he have a view that is radically different than the other Republican candidates?

Well, calling immigrants "rapists" seems like it's at the small end of the bell-curve. He's also said that he'll make Mexico pay for a border wall, which is a unique and unfulfillable promise.

Seriously, his mouth is in fourth, his brains in neutral.

As a non-American, trust me on this one: Donald Trump is the living embodiment of every negative stereotype the rest of the world has about the US. He's an ignorant, buffoonish blowhard, nothing more.
