1. The first time my mother left me alone with my grandparents when I was 3, she returned to find my grandfather had whipped me with a belt.

2. I skipped a lot of high school and no teacher nor the school ever held me accountable. I could get up and walk out in the middle of class while the teacher was talking and no one ever said a thing. I still graduated, though.

3. My parents made me start taking college entrance exams when I was 12.

4. I was a hypochondriac when I was a kid, and every year from age 8 to about 15 I convinced myself at some point that I wouldn't live another year.

5. I took an AutoCad class in high school that went too slowly for me, and despite the fact the teacher told me I couldn't, I went ahead and finished the entire year's work in January. It's the only AutoCad education I've had, but it's what I do for a job.

6. I met my wife when I was 8 years old, because her mom was my babysitter. We started dating at 16 and have been together for nearly 20 years.

7. I consistently scored in the 99th percentile in Math on my standardized tests in school.

8. The tendon in my right ring finger is held together with a string.

9. When I was 14, I covered my hand in rubber cement and lit it on fire, suffering first and second degree burns.

10. When you combine both prescribed and non-prescribed drugs, I've probably put 60+ different chemicals in my body.

I am also able to mirror write/draw! Not a lot of people can. My Catholic school teachers thought the fact I was ambidextrous and could write in perfect mirror with my left hand was "concerning" and strongly discouraged me from doing it. I have refined that ability and use it in my art and sometimes embroidery patterns when I'm sewing something.

3. Past sports accidents have left me with only walking for exercise.
4. 3" scar on left cheek from having my sister removed.
5. Married to a functionally disabled legally blind woman who still drives.
6. Lived in St. Thomas USVI for two years and it was a mixture of heaven and hell.
7. Two inpatient treatments for substance abuse.
8. Been to 38 of 50 US states.
9. Grew up on and prefer Beverly Hillbillies food.
10. Never thought I'd hang around here this long.

Bonus: Shot in hunting accident in college, had to drive my self to the hospital as the others could not drive a stick.

1. I love gardening and hate being inside.

2. I am growing a tropical garden in a sub-tropical environment. After a decade of painstaking trial and error, it is finally coming together.

3. I have two specialised, raised herb beds that I lay in between and pretend I'm in a vast forest.

4. I love children and still get clucky around them, even though I'm a male. :-)

5. I have absolutely no problems with breaking laws I don't believe in.

6. I'd never met an Atheist before I became one. It was before the Internet and I thought I was on to something fairly new.
I had no idea people had been talking about it for ages. :-)

8. I get lonely sometimes but I really think I prefer to be single.
I feel comfortable knowing that will be my future.

9. I'm a firebug. Staring into the flames is the only way I know of to stop thinking.

10. I hate shoes. They're just not natural.
