Well that sounds like the Ann Rand theory of economics, that the rich produce all the wealth if only they would go lightly taxed and unregulated.
Fortunately, we don't just have to agree to disagree here. We can look to empirical evidence from decades of experimentation.
Though this last decade, we've seen the effects of deregulation and tax cuts. How did that work for us? Did the rich, unfettered and encouraged, create prosperity and jobs for all? Did the wealth trickle down like it was supposed to? Did the economy do well overall or did it suffer total collapse? Did the rich investors act in the best interests of the economy or did they act like a hoard of barbarians come to pillage everything they could?
During the decade before, a tax and spend center-left liberal was in charge. The emphasis was more-or-less on the middle class. Did all the rich people leave the country for greener pastures? Did the economy collapse due to a lack of incentive by the rich to produce wealth?
