RE: What the bible says Hell is like
October 11, 2015 at 12:34 am
Is someone bookmarking this conversation, so when the next Napkinist comes in here and tells us we either A) were never Christians, or B) are going to a worse hell because we're apostates... in about two hours from now, I'd wager, for one of those two at least... we can point them here?
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

You clearly need to brush up on the Christian religion.
Some Christians think homosexuality is ok. The Christian religion has be hi-jacked by a bunch of liberals and self-righteous people. Once you say that me keeping the commandments earned me eternal life is a lie. you take away from the work of the cross and it is no longer God's work, but now you "saved" yourself. that view couldn't be further from the truth. Christians are saved by grace through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

and the unpardonable sin you speak of isn't denying the existence of the Holy Spirit, rather it was a specific sin which happened in the days when Jesus was on Earth. The Pharisees who seeing that Jesus was performing miracles being filled with the Holy Spirit said instead that he was filled with the demon Beelzebub blasphemed the Holy Spirit.
You're sins are not forgiven if you reject the Son.
All your sins are forgiven past, present, and future once you believe on Jesus Christ. confession of sins after receiving salvation by grace through Jesus Christ is for relational purposes with God. It offends God and grieves the Spirit when we sin (Ephesians 4:20) God has already given me eternal life in Heaven, but if I want to walk with God and live in a close relationship with Him on Earth, then I must confess my sins daily. And to confess means to agree with. I'm agreeing with God that I was wrong and sinned.
Seems to me that you are of a denomination that has a different interpretation of scripture than other professed Christians.
If I may ask, what is your denomination?

Daniel, Paul may have been more of a faith only guy, but James and John and even Jesus were the opposite. You need to believe and do good works for salvation.
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
Justified by works, not faith alone.

I have no clue. I'm not familiar with all the names and stuff. That's why for my religious views I put KJV bible Christian because that was the best name I could come up with

Even if the Christian god were real (it's not, but for the sake of argument), I, for one, really have no desire to have a personal relationship with it. And I think it's hilarious that it's presented as something special or noteworthy since it apparently wants a personal relationship with everyone. Like it's some kind of selling point.

I freaking call idiot on this dude. No one professes a belief in something without knowing what it is in which he believes.

well that's simply not the case. The faith that James 2 and other passages of the like are referring to is not justification before God, but before men. dead faith implies that faith is there. Its like saying my cat is dead, then saying I don't have a cat actually. You saying dead cat means there's a cat that exists that is dead, otherwise it would be a meaningless statement. The same is with faith. Faith can still exist, but it is dead when we don't do works. The bible talks about dead works as well. Works without faith is dead. (Hebrews 6:1)
Galatians 2: 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law [aka works], then Christ is dead in vain.
This is known as works salvation and it spits in the face of God's gospel. The good news is that no work is needed for our forgiveness (just belief on the Son) Jesus said it is finished. Thank God because if it were up to me to live a good Christian life to be saved I would fail hard. A true Christian is one who is humble and takes no credit for his salvation, rather boasts only in the work of God.
