The sound effects were to imply he was whipping out the biggest penis in the known universe.
Like a legend.

For most influential work of science, Origins is the correct call. But most influential .. left open ended .. has got to go to Shakespeare. I mean, pick any one play or sonnet and reasonable people can disagree. But the complete works of Shakespeare? That is no contest. That 1984 would place higher condemns the breadth of those voting.

Also, a brief history of time? Really? Why is that significant?

I get the feeling that the book order was designed not as what was most important, but a combination of importance and reading level required. That's why Newton wasn't first choice. And why Stephen Hawking was on the list. Most likely because of the ease/non-ease to read them.
Which is better:
To die with ignorance, or to live with intelligence?

Truth doesn't accommodate to personal opinions.
The choice is yours.

What do you mean? That BHOT is on the list because it is hard, or because it is easy? I understand neither motivation...

I'm not disputing that it is good, just that it belongs on this list. Was it really that influential on say 20th century thought? We're comparing it with world changing stuff here...
