IANMTU, lime jello and cottage cheese (think about that for a minute) was a frequent item at our family get togethers back in the 60s.  I remember being a kid and eating it. The texture is indescribable.  I'd almost swear we had it at the school cafeteria too.

Jesus fucking christ, what were they thinking ??

That's horrifying. Even from the perspective of a jello like me.

So far, that is the only one in this thread I recall eating. Our family version had a mucous like layer of cream cheese and/or salad dressing (salad creme for the Brits here) under the green abomination.

My mom might have experimented with tomato jello (yes, that was a REAL flavor at one time), I remember there being a box or two in the cupboard. Thank God, Zeus and Buddha I don't ever remember eating anything made with tomato jello.

That IS a pretty terrible texture combination.

I wonder who thought that was a good idea?

Reminds me of this:

Green jello and cottage cheese !!!!

Where in the blue blazes did the inspiration for that come from ??

What depraved cafeteria in Hell would even serve such a thing ??

SPAM JELLO
1 lg. box lemon or lime Jello
1 lg. can Spam or Treat
1 med. onion, chopped
1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. ice cold water
1/2 c. mayonnaise
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
4 hard boiled eggs, chopped
1/4 c. relish (pickle, corn, etc.)
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
2 drops Tabasco

Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Add cold water, mayonnaise and sour cream to Jello. Chop Spam; add to Jello with remaining ingredients. Chill until firm. Makes 6 to 8 servings. This recipe is excellent on a hot day.

This thread really IS going to give me nightmares.

I should have done what I always do,
whenever I accidentally wander into a thread
that I really don't want to join:

Damn, I'm thinking I was lucky; jello and olives, jello and spaghetti-os, jello and deviled eggs, jello and sauerkraut, I was spared so much of the HORROR that was jello.
