I'm not there. I don't wish misery on anybody else but I do want to win. I'm looking at the Republicans stupidly rejecting Garland for SCOTUS, Hillary replacing him with a young, true progressive and doing likewise if Ginsberg and Breyer sensibly retire during her first term. It means winning the Culture War. No more realistic possibility of overturning Roe vs. Wade, no more church-state separation challenges, no more LGBT rights challenges. True social progress for decades which will not be walked back.

I also have hopes the Republican party will then reform to a party of common sense and give us two viable parties in America.

Trump is nothing but a bullshit artist. But to claim Hillary is a problem too, no. This mess was started by Reagan long before Hillary held any office. The only thing our politicians can be blamed for is being too compromising trying to defend themselves from the cold war bulllshit slurs the GOP has successfully painted the left as for the past 40 years.

Our ideas as progressives are solid, our tactics in politics suck. We do value the private sector. We do value women's rights over their bodies, and equal pay. We do value livable wages. We do value affordable health care. We do value cheaper or free higher education. The right wing has fought all those things the entire time, and democrats instead of pushing back, have allowed republicans to control the narrative which has caused our side to stupidly try to prove we aren't Stalin's communism. Hillary is a hostage, not a perp. Obama has unfortunately compromised as well, because he is dealing with a bratty obstructionist right.

Our party has been like a weak parent at the check out isle when the fucking brats scream for candy, we stupidly give it to them in hopes they will shut the fuck up. 

No, sad is the rich and the religious right thinking they have sole rights to be the one group in control. Sad is their not giving a fuck about how the pay gap is killing us and using religion to divide workers on social issues. Even if they put social issues aside trickle up economics isn't working anymore. If they have any long term hopes they need to ditch all the old white party, and become the progressive Teddy Roosevelt party. I doubt they will do that at all considering the totality of the majority they have in there right now, those morons didn't learn anything from the past 8 years.
