There are few (if any) truly unique American Foods. Mainly what we do is take cuisine from other places, Americanize it (make it rather bland), over salt it, mass produce it and freeze it and sell it at Walmart in humongous packages.
Authentic anything is hard to find in the states. You usually have to find local mom 'n' pop joints or hole-in-the-wall, greasy spoons to find the good stuff.

In Britain, we have a mix of basically everything. Curries, sushi, "American food"...you name it.
