Time To Stop Wasting Everyone's Time, Bernie
RE: Time To Stop Wasting Everyone's Time, Bernie
Quote:All he has to do is nose ahead on pledged delegates, which is well within mathematical reach.

Yeah... and if a baseball team is 6 1/2 games behind with 7 to play they are not mathematically eliminated either.  But I wouldn't spend money buying their playoff tickets.

There are 781 delegates available not counting super-delegates.  Sanders trails by 274 in pledged delegates.  By my count, he needs to win 67+% of the remaining delegates.  And every race that he either loses or wins with less than 67% of the delegates simply makes it harder.

Hillary is 92 votes short.  She can't get them in the two minor races before June 7th.  You can talk about math all you like but I far prefer her chances to his.

There's another thing to consider here, and that's the actual purpose of the super-delegates. While they have never in history nominated a candidate against the will of the people, they were created to do exactly that. Super-delegates exist in the event that the party needs to vote down a popularly-selected candidate because they're not electable (like, say, if they're trailing the GOP candidate while the other contender is beating him, or if they get indicted by the FBI for breaching national security, for instance).

I do keep saying they'll go with whoever has the lead, but if that candidate can't win the election, they might not actually do that. They won't if they actually want to win in November, anyway. If Bernie continues to poll as a better contender against trump and keeps winning primaries, the supers may start to panic and switch sides even if he's not fully in the lead by the convention (as long as he keeps it close and continues winning elections). According to the numbers, Sanders has every reason to contend for the opportunity to run against Trump. On paper, he is by far the best candidate to do it, and he may be able to convince the supers of that depending on how things go between now and the DNC.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

The way Sanders is winning states considering the obvious new your primary was rigged for hillary.
He has been on a streak lately getting states he is going to get the primary the way i see it hillary and the FBI
and other things not to mention the GOP attack ads against he will be the reason why she wont win teh primary.

I'm glad the convention is more than a month after the primary. Hopefully that will be enough time for the emotionally-induced, reality-clouding haze afflicting the most radical Bernie supporters to fade.

The superdelgates were created with the intention of giving the Democratic Party the more electable candidate. Hillary is losing to Trump in Ohio, is tied with him in Florida and Pennsylvania, whereas Sanders is consistently beating Trump by wider margins. And this before the FBI fully discloses the findings of its investigation. This primary is exactly the sort of primary where the superdelgates should overturn the popular vote - otherwise what's the point of them.

How about you emotionally induced, reality-clouding go fuck yourself, dude? If you don't think he can/should win, then fine, but that's no license to be a condescending dick about it. You are not smarter or more mature just because you've resigned yourself to voting for a party puppet.

If Hilary gets the nomination, Hilary supporters will get what they deserve in November when Trump is elected president.

It has to do with the fact that with the bulk of the primary behind us, Bernie has won well under 50% of the pledged delegates. To think he has any hope of suddenly winning 67% of what little is left is sheer folly. While it is mathematically possible, it is utterly unrealistic. It's not about me being smarter or more mature; it's about you ignoring reality.

You bounce between counting super-delegates and not counting super-delegates so fast Min, it's like watching Tennis.

By my calculation, Hillary is 615 votes short of the nomination via pledged delegates. There are 939 pledged delegates still available. That means she has to win 65% of the remaining delegates to secure the nomination. I don't think that's possible.

Do I think Sanders will be the nominee? No, I don't. That's not why he's still in this race though. He's in it because a huge amount of people voted for him rather than Hillary, and he wants to make sure that their views are heard at the DNC. If the DNC alienate Sanders' voters, a number of them won't vote for Clinton.
