I think it has to do with genetics. All the boys in my family have it and all the girls ones are a bit longer.

Sadly it wouldn't work in the real world. I'm a brooding Emo Metalhead. I love my long hair and medium beard, he likes short beards. I have a hairy back and hairy shoulders, he hates them and I listen to metal music and he hates it. Still my little buddy's face is so adorable.
