I asked him what is his reason being a theist and, why choose christianty over any other religion and here is what he said:

"the main two reasons I will give that I am a theist are:

1. I think belief in God is properly basic.
2. The likelihood of my cognitive structure structure retaining true beliefs is greater than on theism, than given atheism).

And for Christian theism in particularly:
3. Argument that God is not a unitarian God.
4. The Resurrection as the best explanation of certain facts about the historical Jesus.
5. Religious experience.
"

now i do not have the knowledge to refute these except the 5th one, so i need some help to understand and perhaps refute this.

Also Hello! this is my first post Big Grin

Just to clarify, you want to gain the knowledge to be able to refute him? How do you know that this knowledge exists (ie that his points are wrong)?

Most of the cousins assumptions are NOT supported by historical evidence??

What I mean is that the OP seems to want to gain knowledge to refute his cousins points. I would have thought that if he disagrees with his cousin, that he would already know the reason why.

Ryft says the opposite. The difference is I've seen him defend that.

Well, If you don't have the expertise to debate with someone do you automatically say, OK you are right i'm wrong? I tried Google, but i can't find relevant* information so i google the keyterms you guys mention and use them. I am no expert, therefore i rely on others to help me understand.

Also another key point, i don't have the knowledge to debate about Jesus.
As for God, after watch the videos posted why Eleazar i understand #1,2 and disagree.
I refuse to agree to disagree. :cool2:

Absolutely. I'm just asking why ask for help refuting something without knowing if it's incorrect. And if you do know, you should surely also know why, wouldn't you say?

Good point Garmston Ansell, I think you have spotted a core bias MrJatt has - He should not be looking for refutations when he doesn't "have the expertise to debate with someone" but rather seek to understand the issue.
