RE: Pokemon go.
I heard a reporter on the radio the other day talking about his test trial with this game. It led him though some bushes in a park. When he comes out of the bushes his phone was pointing at a group of young women picnicking. Now he is afraid he will be seen as a lurking pervert so he goes running out of the park.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

That's great. Wish more parents would do that these days.
Today's kids are in the age of instant gratification. They don't know what it's like to actually have to get up and go find something to do. While technology is great, it's also a downfall for anyone in their twenties or younger.

They will never know the joy of slamming down the phone on someone nor will they know what it's like to have to go to a library to do actual research through periodicals. They have it way too easy.

I see the difference between the way I learned in school and the way some of my much younger fellow classmates learned. Folks in my generation are more visual learners. Young folks today, not so much.

Borrowed phone/game from colleague
Spoofed gps location
Caught a bunch of pokemons, none of which i recognized
lost interest after 10mins
gave back phone to colleague and resumed normal daily routine.

Personally father.io seems like a lot better idea compared to this, and a lot less boring.

Pokemon was a big part of my childhood, seeing it brought to life in this way has been pretty interesting. There are people who play at my place of work when they have breaks and it's fun to roam around to see what we can get.

I think people can take it too far, but there's also those people -the same ones every time something new comes out- who like to shit on everything and everyone having fun too.

Never been a pokemon person. However, if it means people exercise, it's good. And i've heard that in certain areas, animal shelters have been getting kids to exercise the animals whilst playing it which is fantastic Big Grin

Small children playing this are practically a novelty, at least in my town. Here it's mostly grown-ass people. I can't describe what it's done to the social scene here. People my age are mostly just into the bar scene because this is a small town with fuck-all to do, and I have no interest in that shit, let alone could I afford it.

This dumb game, however, has dragged those people out of their houses and bars and into the streets so I can actually interact with them, and that to me is what makes it a great game. I've met more new people in the last few days than in the several months prior.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

I'd rank this right up there with Pet Rocks as a totally useless past time.

My city's animal shelter is doing this, although it's not just kids that are playing the app while walking the shelter's dogs - it's adults too  Big Grin

That's a nasty joke but I did laugh so I had to give it kudos, that's one of my rules.

I kudosed, then I realized what an awful thing to say it was, and I unkudosed. No offense brewer.
