Yes...he's referring to the Flood..the big, worldwide, ark-worthy god-flood.  That most certainly never happened.
I'm referring to the same thing, only I'm saying it was localized event which affected a small area, like 5-6 cities. We all know the tendency believers to exaggerate things and given how many people have rewritten the bible, no wonder nowadays it's being referred to as something unimaginable.

They keep denying the obvious - the proverbial great flood which the believers blame on god - they say it never happened. Given the recorded history of deadly storms, I think it did happen but it was a localized event for which reason no other religion mentioned it. Which also proves it wasn't  "god's" deed, it was simply a bad and powerful storm. If it were god's  deed, he would flood the whole world and all religions would mention it.
Needless to say that I was immediately claimed as a believer just because I refused to underestimate nature. Seriously, I was expecting more thinking capabilities from atheists...

Here's some evidence heavy storms did happen and will continue to happen:
http://m.ranker.com/list/10-biggest-dead...G5zw_FdQ.8

Big storms happened on Earth, yeah... But... the amount of water it would take to lead to something like the Great flood (story of noahs ark) is not possible because there just isn't enough water on Earth to engulf all the land and still fill the oceans. Even if there was, there is no way that all of that could happen unless all of the clouds on Earth liquefied and fell to the surface and if all of the water on the Surface of Earth somehow flooded all of the land at the same time and even then water would freeze over the land, killing ALL of the humans, who certainly were not skilled enough to build something that would float.

At the time they would have no warning. They would have died. They would either freeze to death by the cold... Or they would die from the pressure of the water slamming against their skulls.

And no shit, storms did happen. They still happen. And how come none of these "great" storms happened after the invention of the video and/or after the massive increase in journalism or advances and innovations seismic detection?..

Because it's bullshit, don't just listen to some reports or hypothesis that my be plausible because it sounds right.
Also, saying your an atheist doesn't mean anything to us. No offense but please do some critical thinking.

Have a good day.

Some of you just seem to refuse to think outside the deity's box, so I give up. As a local saying says - the smarter steps down.

Ugh, here, let me help you - because we can actually explore this idea to a degree you may not have realize but would -totally- be able to follow...being a smart guy and all.

Pick the five cities your regional deluge (little d for little ideas Wink )  would have effected.  Next a time frame...you can be generous with buffers.  Then a rate of accumulation, and height of the floodline.  We can get a topo map, soil surveys, geological data - and any pertinent archeological or historical evidence.  We'll be able to predict how much water would needs to have fallen, what sort of storm cell would be required to produce it, what the effect of such a cell would be...and what evidence there is (or isn't) regarding the existence of such a storm cell in that region at that time (or anywhere else in the world)...and whether or not such a flood ever did happen, or would indeed be possible.

While you make those decisions, we'll get some mood music going.

"The deity's box"?  What the heck is that supposed to mean? Do you even understand the points we're making?

"Think outside the deity's box" - what DOES that mean?  If you are referring to the Biblical Flood story, it gives clear specific details:  that everyone on Earth perished except those in the ark, that the highest mountaintops all over the earth were covered by water 15 cubits (22 ft, give or take a few inches) deep.

This has clearly been proved impossible on many fronts.

Sure, there are loads of flood stories - the Noah story was taken from Sumerian creation stories and the Babylonian Gilgamesh epic.  The Tigris-Euphrates flood basin shows archaeological evidence of massive flooding.  Sure, huge floods happened.  But the exaggerated story given in the Bible never did.
