I haven't actually done a test. I was put off by the specificity of the tests. I'd have preferred to just do some general sex/gender related one or race or age or weight - or whatever. They had at least two sex related tests.

Implicit Bias and You. And Me. And Everyone..

That's disappointing.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It doesn't seem particularly well designed for what it purports to report. Is it telling me anything other, for example, than that I'm good at games? Saw through it at the first input switch. Even if you didn't tell me what it was for, I could have gamed the shit out of it. If I were to take it many times in a row, would I get the same results, how is it different from a sidecroller with two inputs, say a and b...ala mario of nintendo fame?
That would be a fun meta-experiment. To see if gamers could achieve a desired result with greater frequency than non-gamers.

Is there a difference between bias and pattern recognition? Like when picking teams for basketball, if I take the athletic looking 6'8" guy over the fat 5'2" guy, i'm being bias'd towards tall athletic people.

Is there a difference between bias and knowledge of a cultural narrative? When I associate a word or image as "bad" does it mean that I think the word or image is bad, or that I know the correct answer to the question is "bad"? Similarly, my grouping of "bad" words and images together speaks to what, precisely...or am I just trying to hit the right key, between a staggering two options?
If I misidentify after an input reversal (hit i instead of e), does that indicate bias, or patterned behavior that was set in the previous section? Mind you, I'm positively -certain- that I'm a nervous ball of biases.......but.....?

The only question is how they are biased. I changed a lot over the last three decades. And to arrive where I am now, bias included, is that I never quite realized how lucky I was growing up as I was. I had all the opportunities, and the only reason why I'm not a filthy rich man by now is my own failure - and the values I was brought up to believe in. Anyway, this topic isn't about the test, that's just interesting side candy. Implicit bias exists, even if that tests isn't great at measuring it. Which I'm not qualified to say one way or another.

My husband says the algorithm is designed to take into account the prior training it gives you, which is why its there in the first place, and switches locations of answers more than once. It also accounts for the speed of response, which is actually where it grabs most of the info. I only got 2 answers "wrong" for instance, but still scored a strong bias because I was slow. I scored a lower bias on the tests where I was faster, meaning I didn't have a strong correlation to consciously break to get the "right" answer. His explanation, just sharing it.
