Judging by Trump's comments over the years he won't make America great, just less educated and more ignorant.

Talking of which, I bet Trump doesn't know how the US owes so much debt to China that it can call the shots. I'm not sure Trump will enjoy having to placate their demands.

China's position as America's largest banker gives it some political leverage. Now and then, China threatens to sell part of its debt holdings. It knows that, if it did so, U.S. interest rates would rise, which would slow U.S economic growth.  China often calls for a new global currency to replace the dollar, which is used in most international transactions. China does this whenever the U.S. allows the value of the dollar to drop, which makes the debt China holds less valuable.

Holy crap. China has America's balls in a vice.

I don't know what that means.

I know you don't, and that's part of the problem.

You presumably disagree with most Trump voters on, for example, immigration.

If you thought along the lines, I disagree with them, but I can understand where they're coming from and empathize with them to a degree, then you'd have a chance of winning them over.

If you just write them off as stupid and/or evil, you'll never reach them.

I have the opposite view. Not about all of those people but about many of them.

When it comes to stupidity... well, it's very hard to underestimate how stupid people can be.

Carlo Maria Cipolla, an economic historian, is famous for his essays about human stupidity, such as "The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity". He viewed stupid people as a group, more powerful by far than major organizations such as the Mafia and the industrial complex, which without regulations, leaders or manifesto nonetheless manages to operate to great effect and with incredible coordination.

These are Cipolla's five fundamental laws of stupidity:

1. Always and inevitably each of us underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.
2. The probability that a given person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic possessed by that person.
3. A person is stupid if they cause damage to another person or group of people without experiencing personal gain, or even worse causing damage to themselves in the process.
4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the harmful potential of stupid people; they constantly forget that at any time anywhere, and in any circumstance, dealing with or associating themselves with stupid individuals invariably constitutes a costly error.
5. A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person there is.

Intentional stupidity cannot be convinced or won over. We need to make sure we don't waste our time trying to convince the unconvinceable and instead try to convince the undecided voters, that's what we need to do.

I think letting the undecided and uninformed voters know who they shouldn't vote for is the important thing. And calling out the bigots, and calling a spade a spade, is one way of doing that.

Most bigots don't consider themselves bigots.  But if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and waddles like a duck.. you call it a fucking duck.
