And I still have yet to get a good answer from these right wing assholes as to why, if they hate abortion so much why they dont demand we go to war with Israel which is staunchly pro choice.
I'm going to take a stab at it. "Seems excessive." That is why I don't think right wing assholes want to declare war on other countries over abortion rights.
No no no, read all three books of Abraham, the god of all three loves to control girls women and loves war. Conservatives exist in all three religions, Jews and Christians simply have watered down their bigotry in the west because of secular law, but our right wing warmongers invest in war and we have a long history of war.

Quote:Ohio lawmakers pass ‘heartbeat’ abortion legislation
Quote:Ohio lawmakers approved a bill that bans abortion once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, as early as six weeks after conception, clearing the way for one of the most stringent abortion restrictions in the United States if it becomes law.
The Republican-led state House of Representatives and Senate passed the so-called “heartbeat” measure late on Tuesday, sending it to be signed into law by Republican Governor John Kasich.
Wow, that's so unrealistic. Most pregnancy tests can't even detect pregnancy hormone until at LEAST 2 weeks past conception which is considered 4 weeks pregnant. Meaning, not until a woman misses her period. And that's assuming she's always on schedule. Doesn't seem to afford women much time, does it? Especially considering you CAN get a fetal heart beat on ultrasound as early as 6 weeks! But, I guess that's the whole point, right? Decease the window of opportunity to practically zilch. Just Awful.

More of the usual. Close the window, eliminate providers, mandate state sponsored shaming sessions and waiting periods. All so that they can -pretend- that they aren't running afoul of federal law.
(there's only one licensed provider left in my state, they'll be closed soon, if they don't get bombed out first.)

A heartbeat is not a test of viability.
sic Ok, what is a test of viability?

Viability is generally considered to be ~23-26 weeks, depending on the circumstances. It's not a hard-cut line, since every situation is different and its dependent on both the neonatal care available and the diagnosis of the medical staff doing the examining.
As far as I'm aware, the supreme court has upheld a woman's right to an abortion of a pre-viable fetus, and after that it's up to the states. Either way, this heartbeat bill doesn't pass muster, and won't stand in the face of review (unless the courts do a 180 suddenly from previous precedents), since it bans abortions far before the third trimester viability window.

23-26 weeks is second trimester

Sorry, I meant that after 23-26 weeks, then the third trimester starts. As in, the courts have upheld a woman's right to have an abortion before the third trimester.

But it's very difficult to pick it up on ultrasound earlier than 6 weeks into pregnancy. I have never heard of anyone seeing a heart beat at 4 weeks pregnant. 4 weeks after conception is approx. 6 weeks pregnant since you're counting the two week prior to conception.

I was 6 weeks pregnant, which is 4 weeks after conception. It's weird, but for some reason they start counting the pregnancy on the day of your last period, even though conception doesn't happen until about 2 weeks after that if your cycle is regular.
